I feel like I am drowning I am so sad and upset and anxious I can't stop
crying I feel physically sick he is getting run bloods today have been at the hospital morning and night brushing cuddling coaxing him to eat he is on appetite stimulants now and has lost 500 grams still on sub
IV fluids he has been diagnosed with stage 3 I want to
do the right thing the doctors are saying to give him a chance but I think that stimulants and coaxing are cruel oh god
pussiette Lair Prayers keeping going your way. Trust your heart to know when it is time for peace. Everyone will respect your decision no matter what you decide and most importantly your baby will. I am so sorry you are going through all of this so soon after losing your girl.
pussiette Wrapping big hugs around you and Flint! We all know flint is in the best of love and care with you..
Kiss him talk to him, sing softly to Flint. He knows you love him dearly.
I also , with my vets permission, left a small hand towel I rubbed all over me with my bengal boy when he stayed at the vet. Just a little wubba comfort.
He is eating today which is good news his fluids will be reduced the next couple days and he will remain in hospital they will be giving him another ultrasound today to check for stomach ulcers. He has also been diagnosed with a heart murmur.
I've been brushing him cuddling him talking to him bringing in his blankets making his bed changing his litter cleaning his cage letting him walk as far as his IV will let him in the cat ward.
The vet said depending how he goes off fluids he might be coming home!
I'm so scared.
Thanks for sending your love to him and being so supportive it helps to know others care about their cats just as much they are our babies .
Going back to the hospital to feed him in a couple of hours.
This is so sad your family really have been through such a hard time recently, lots of love & prayers sent your way, hope things improve for you xxxxxx
Just got back from hospital again lots of hugs and pats and brushes were given and lots of purrs were heard. Dropping IV fluids down again, he should come off the drip tomorrow then we'll see how his body holds without the IV. He'll probably need to stay on the anti-nausea / appetite stimulant daily.
Please be sure to check for "tenting" when Flint comes home. The vet can show this quick skin feel tug to you and yours..
A digital thermometer from the dollar store is good too..
Also a thought, You can ask if you need to bring Flint back in a few days for a boost of SubQ fluid. I bought the bag and drip tubing home with my vet showing how to administer.
in my case Omar would get too wild cat stressed with revisits to vet every week after the initial episode.
It took about 3 months till he was eating and medication free..
Sending big hugs of love n encouragement and perseverance of strength!
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts we could not have pulled through this without tyou all hoping and praying for Flint I have very good news Flint has been discharged from hospital this morning we have brought him home he has had lots of water a walk in the sun on his harness some grass – and is now lying on the lounge chair covered in a quilt at front of the front door looking out at the birds. Thanks so much is going back for blood tests next week and we need to find something that can get his appetite back that he loves eating also need to make sure that we don't stir up his FLUTD.
I am so sorry to read this. Just by your words sharing his struggle with us and the hardest choices you were faced with, it was obvious how much Flint was loved and a true member of your family. Flint is no longer in pain...rest in peace.
