Most breeders alter them before they leave the breeders house and they do not charge more for a female cat because it cost more to alter them.

My vet charged 250.00 when I had Violet spayed. It was over 300.0o when I had my great dane done.

3 years ago I had a semi feral kitten neutered for $105. It was the 'basic package' and included a pre-op exam and antibiotic shot, but didn't include pre-op blood work. Gleek and Jiji were neutered and spayed before their arrival. Their breeder has many more low cost options in her area than in New England.
