I'm a little concerned about Alien's right eye, which has been a little puffy for over a month but other than that seems to be okay. We reckon that because he likes chasing bugs he might have gotten bitten or stung one day.

Originally the surrounding skin was a little red and dry (the eyeball itself seemed fine, just a bit gunky), so we cleaned it up with saline solution a couple of times a day and it went back to normal. However, it still looks swollen even though the redness is gone. There doesn't seem to be any infection, the gunkiness has stopped, and he hasn't indicated that he's in any pain or discomfort.

Does anyone know if this serious or if it will subside after a while?

His left eye looks squinting. I would have your Vet look at it.
If it has been a month, then, something is surely going on.
I hope everything will be alright with him.
Keep us updated on him. I would like to know what you find out.

From what I have read, when you see the cats 3rd eyelid visible on the eye then it can be a sign of illness.

Since it's been that way so long now it might be good to get your vets opinion.

Healing thoughts to Alien ..
I agree with a vet visit..they may check if he scratched his cornea or got a little something. Stuck in there irritating it..
I got prescription eye drops from the vet for my kitty years ago and it helped a lot. Definitely agree on a vet visit for Alien

Is Alien's third eye lid only visible in his left eye?

I agree about the vet visit, weird that there's no redness or discharge when it's swollen... Hopefully you can figure it out!
