When I gave my last report to this group about my kitty it was information I had received from my husband. I have more news now.
My sister and I took a three day trip together to the mountains. While we were having “high tea” enjoying the mountain view my vet phoned. I did not answer and texted my husband to ask him to call the vet.
I am home now and speaking to him in person I have been given a more detailed report. My kitty’s heart has gotten a lot worse. The vet told him heart failure is “imminent”. He didn’t word it that way in his text to me. (Bless his heart).
My kitty has an appointment on Thursday to check for fluid on her lungs and to see what exact type of medication she needs. My husband picked up:
Clopidogrel 75 mg - 1/4 tablet once per day
Vetmedin 1.25 mg every 12 hours
Fortekor 2.5 mg every 12 hours
The vet told him Raphael could drop dead at any time. Either a clot will go to her brain which would be instant. A clot could go the groin which would be painful. Her heart could just stop. Or one day she just wouldn’t wake up. (My preference). My husband asked for a timeline - the vet said with the meds she could still live another year to eighteen months. But no one knows for sure.
I am surprisingly at peace with this. I like to know the facts and I don’t like things candy coated. I will ask more questions of my vet tomorrow after her x-rays. I will give her medications as long as they work, and I won’t let her suffer.
She is the best kitty I have ever had and I am happy to have her.
