So before finding a new source of raw for Ren I ordered some Darwin's. It was supposed to be here today and I just found out it is delayed until tomorrow.
The nearest place that sells Primal is over an hour away and will close by the time I get there. Is there anything I can pick up at the grocery to get him through his feedings tomorrow?

Do you have a Walmart nearby? Some of them have new raw selection fridges in the pet food section.

You can buy meat & usually organ but I think you would be missing the bone. and it would be hard to get the right ratio.

I would look for a small local "healthy" pet store nearby that might sell a different brand, or places like Target/Walmart who sometimes have raw in a fridge in the pet section. Petco and petsmart usually have this too and are sometimes open a bit later.

Went to petco and they were remodeling the frozen section so I ended up at walmart. We will see how it goes.

I don't do raw at the mo because khaleesi is having issues. I did buy raw premade when I was. However, I did buy some bone powder from pets at home to make my own raw in emergencies. (Figured I could just go to the shop and buy meat and organs and mix it all together). I don't know if that's an option until your raw is delivered?

I know I'm late chiming in but if this ever happens again, you can just go buy some chicken wings and cut some of the meat off the bones and then hammer the bones a bit to soften them. They don't need bone and organ every meal as long as they get their ratio of it sometime during the week.

Glad, I have already found a different raw provider because when I called the guy was a jerk. He told me there was no tracking number, but then how was he able to tell me it was held up by UPS...He also told me that it shipped on Tuesday but originally I was told it would ship on Monday. I hope the raw is still good if it got held up an extra day in shipping.

I let him know that it concerns me because they way planned out the auto ship was to the day. am I going to be running to Walmart every few weeks to feed my boy some inexpensive foul smelling raw when I am paying over $100 a month to your company? His response was that I shouldn't because I am way over ordering at 22# a month because cats eat 3-4 oz a day. Um last time I checked which was um today my kitty eats 10-12oz a day.

My favorite part was when he told. " I don't understand why you're so upset, your cat won't die from not eating for one day" WTH, because of the high metabolism I think this would be equivalent with the employee not eating for 3 days. What your not going to die from not eating for just three days?

Sorry for the rant but this incident really made my inner mama cub come out!

I would continue to call the company as I'm sure you paid quite a lot to have it ship to you. There is a good chance by the time you get it that it will be warm and you will have to toss it as well! Poor Ren...

I know with me living in New Mexico some of those companies were going to charge me 20 dollars for shipping! I can only imagine Texas prices. What part of Texas do you live in? Maybe I can help you find a better place to get it from. I used to live in the Panhandle and since we live close to the Texas border now we spend a lot of time driving around visiting places... lol

I keep some freeze dried raw in the cupboard in case of emergencies. Stella and Chewy is one brand and Primal also has freeze dried. Oliver will eat anything....I prefer the frozen kind but I have forgotten to take some out of the freezer once or twice. Good to have on hand. I would definitely change companies! Or drive the hour every 3 months and get Primal...but that's just me, I have no tolerance for that kind of disrespect as a paying customer he should be doing more to be helpful.

Kyla - I agree totally and this is was the introductory trial for Darwin's. The food has been on a truck since Friday, I'm sure it's not good anymore. It's so frustrating! They sure had no trouble charging my card.

I live in McKinney Texas which is about an hour from Dallas if there is no traffic. I found a meat processing plant in Detroit Texas called Texas Tripe I am going to try. They deliver to a drop-off location in my town and it's free! Unfortunately they only deliver 1x a month so our first order won't come in until the 15th. I guess it's back to Primal until then.

Ollie- I will definitely be picking up some freeze dried today and am kicking myself right now because I was running late to work and all I had to feed him this morning was kibble. :(

Ren has been so good on raw. He was excited this morning because it's what he ate until a month ago. I imagine it like Fruit Loops for kids. It tastes good but is filled with non nutritious stuff. Still kills me I had nothing else to give him. Live and learn I guess.

Lol this reminds me of what happened to us just after Xmas...

We had the kitties, and were on our way home from the In laws, which is 3.5 hour drive away. There was a storm and the roads were awful. We made the call and pulled off into a dinky town to motel it for the night, as it was better than getting in an accident. I didn't have any raw left, as I though we would have been home already. I sent hubby to the tiny local grocery store, and told him to get me boneless chicken and a can of tuna, paper plates, and plastic forks. I cooked the chicken thighs in the microwave, cut them up, and mixed it with tuna. Kitties thought it was fantastic!! But it was the most stressful trip ever, I kept picturing us getting stuck on in the ditch with 2 kitties and it being -30 below.
