hello all I’m new here and looking for my first sphynxie. Ive been reading up on them forever and I’m ready so a few questions:

1. age old debate male/female?

2. What is your favorite shampoo for your kitties?

3. I’m in florida and i keep the air at 71 in the winter and the tile gets cold how do you compete with the cold? (Its 48 right now and to florida thats cold lol) granted a baby sleeps with us until its able to get on and off the bed
4. Do you prefer any one food over the next for healthy skin?

Thank you in advanced I’m excited to start this journey!!

Also any brewers in florida that are reputable and treat their baby’s very well are always welcome :)

1. That’s dependent on your personality and the cat’s. Generally males are more cuddly and lazy and females more playful, but that is not without exception. My female cat is extremely affectionate and a total leech on me most of the time (which we both love).

2. I like Hylyte because it doesn’t leave residue.

3. I keep it 70 in the Winter and live in Texas. My girl has 2 animal heating pads and tons of blankets and keeps plenty warm. I will put clothes on her while I am home, but would never recommend leaving them on if there isn’t someone supervising.

4. We feed Raw here. @Xandria has a great info page in the nutrition section, you should check it out. It is a little more work than just scooping out kibble but is well worth it and doesn’t really cost more than a good quality dry food.

1) Male... in my experience they are more needy and affectionate

2) Dove soap, same as for us humans :)

3) A heated pad and/or bed, blankets and a coat if your Sphynx will tolerate clothes

4) Royal Canin sensible, Wellness grain free have worked for us

Male or female doesn't matter in my opinion. I have two males and one female and all 3 show their affection and love to cuddle in their own way. It's more about personality I guess

I know lot of people use Hylyt or D'grease shampoo.

Blankets and snuggle pouchs will be a big hit in the house. My crew love to crawl in my hoody. Keeps them warm and close to me.

Food is always difficult to advice cause every sphynx has his or her own favorite. For the first 3-4 weeks it's best to feed what the breeder is feeding to avoid tummy issues.

Hi there, and congrats on starting the research!

1. Either. I have one of each!

2. HyLyt and Pet D'Grease.

3. There's nothing to wake you up from a nice sleep more than a Sphynxie climbing under the covers with you and warming their ice cold paws on your warm skin! LOL That said, they are heat seekers, and will find warm places. Have lots of blankets around for them to bury in. They know when they're cold and will find warmth.

4. I do feed raw (minced meat plus Better in the Raw mix in) which I think is responsible for their lean physique, high energy, and overall health. However, it comes down to what you are comfortable with. The adage is feed the best food you can for your price point.

And keep asking questions. Cheers!

1. We have one of each, both are very affectionate.

2. Our go to shampoo is Johnson & Johnson Baby Bath. It keeps there skin moisturized, and removes the oils that build up, and they smell like a baby when done bathing.

3. We live in North Dakota currently, but when we got Lilith, we lived in Arizona. She's used to warm (as are we) so we keep our house between 72 and 74. Our rule of thumb is that if we're chilly, she is too. We use newborn onesies with the butt cut out to dress them. If they're a bit wide in the shoulders, my wife uses a couple of safety pins to draw them up. We also have a heated pet bed and lots of warm blankets for the two of them, plus a couple of soft plushy cat beds.

4. As for food, they both eat Authority Kitten food. We give them a couple ounces of soft food at night before bed (Once Lucifer isn't so sick he'll get to have it too). Merrick makes several flavors. Duck and Rabbit seem to be the ones that are the favorite. Our two weigh in between 7-8 lbs.

Our Lilith is pretty hardy. She's often zipping around, jumping up on things, and she and our dog rough-house from time to time without major issues. Usually he winds up being the one to cry.

Lucifer...he arrived on New Years day. He currently has a double ear infection and an Upper respiratory infection. He had the ear infection before he got to us, the URI is caused by the stress of traveling our vet thinks.
