Hi guys, I wanted to post on here to see if anyone has any feed back about this situation. Yesterday we noticed Chiggens right eye looking a little red and irritated. And this morning (I’m guess from her scratch and grooming) it’s become red scabs. Posting a close up pic here. We are also pet sitting for another friend who has a 6month old kitten (furry) we kept them separate for 5 days doing the introducing cats to one another routine, after 5 days they seemed more curious and open to hanging out so we started doing supervised hangouts and separating them again. Chiggen had also randomly hurt her paw from either jumping up or down from something and seemed to regress with tolerating her temporarily house mate. I’m just adding this info here just in case it may be a combo of some sickness + stress from our petting sitting circumstance and also her hurt paw. Took her to the doctors for her paw and they said just a soft tissue sprain, no broken or fractured bones. Then today this eye issues. Any feed back or insight helps! P.s the fluffy collar around her neck is a substitute for a cone so she doesn’t try to scratch at it more, until we get one tonight. #eyesores , #scabbyeyes

Did the scabs pop up after the trip to the vet? Wondering if perhaps they got worse rubbing on the inside of the carrier…we have seen that happen in the past.

I also noticed last night that the front paws also have small similar looking sores as her eyes. Not sure if it started on her paws and then spread to the face or vice versa. We took her to the vet again for the eyes situation and they did a skin tested and it came out as excessive numbers of bacteria with white blood cells. She was prescribed an antibiotic and animax ointment. They’re also treating it as a possible flare up as feline herpes with famciclovir and erythromycin ointment. Although we’ve taken her to get test for herpes a few times it never came back as positive. And they said once her prescription is done just continue to give her L-Lysine treats.

@nagaminesan , some kitties do rub their faces paws on carriers/cages at vet.

glad you got adorable Chiggens seen by vet and meds . what antibiotic?

my boy had all those same meds, famciclovir and erythromycin too and it worked great.
hugs n healing vibes. glad her paw is not broken, speedy recovery vibes for her soft tissue injury on paw.

please keep us updated often. all paws are family.

sharing, the flower cone and similar cones like this are popular in group, not sure if this is one you ordered

Thanks so much for the love and help! We ordered one similar to the flower not that exact one tho. In the mean time my partner had knit a wool cone for the time being and it’s been working fine. She seems more comfortable napping and moving around since it’s not so stiff. I’ll post updated pics of her eyes after using the prescribed ointment. I’ll also post the types of medicine they gave us as well!

Here the pic of the cone we’re using till the new one comes lol. I flip it for her while she eats. And the other pics of her this morning fresh from waking up. Her eyes seem to be doing much better, swelling went down a lot from the first day.

here’s some pics of her eye the first night. You can see how irritated and swollen it looked, also pictured are different trial attempts at a make shift cones so she doesn’t scratch

Here’s some updated photos and vids. She got more color options in cones my gf made her 2 more. The lavender cone thingy is from a day ago, and the video is from earlier today. Medications worked so well, crazy how fast cats heal! Thanks again for the concern.
