ok... I'm sorry I'm going to sound harsh, what with being new on the forum and all, but I'm afraid that the "kill an animal to spare him the trouble" view makes me cringe. look, I have an aging terminally ill hedgehog who will need to be rehomed this year because I'm moving to another country and having him quarantined would be really awful. but I'm absolutely willing to drive him to another state to give him to a wonderful person or I *will* waive the friggin' quarantine for him.

That's why I'm so upset. I feel like it's a death sentence, but if the land lady evicts us we're all out in the cold (literally).

People don't adopt 16 year old cats around here. Especially not with 2 days warning  I'm going to keep one here in the old house until the last minute in hopes I'll find someone.

Is there a specific clause in the lease about the number of pets? She gave you a verbal contract before you signed if I am hearing this right. If that is the case she is in breech of contract and the lease should be non binding. I am not sure if verbal agreements are legal in Utah but you might want to check it out.

Hi! I am sorry you are having this issue.I agree with several others who have said just to take all 4 cats with you. Several of my dogs are elderly, & they are so precious & deserving of the best that I can give them. I feel that I owe them my TLC in their final years!

I would sneak one. Before we purchased our shore house we use to rent a condo for 1 week. I hated to leave my sphynx home with our dog sitter because she would not baby my cats like I do so I would sneak them in. I had done it a few time and never had any trouble. I'd take them all . Good luck with what you decide!

That's why I don't rent anymore. Too many damn restrictions. I know a lot of people don't have the means to buy a home - and I was one of those people for many years, until just recently- but it just too heartbreaking to make that kind of a choice. If I had to get rid of one of my cats, I'd have a very hard time choosing, too, as I love them all.
