Greetings,
My name is Kari Mankey, and I am urgently seeking help to surrender my female sphynx kitten, Nudel. This is an extremely difficult decision, but I have reached a point where I can no longer manage her medical needs, and the situation has become overwhelming both emotionally and financially.
Nudel has been sick since the day I brought her home in early September 2025. She was diagnosed with enteritis, and despite months of intensive care, she has never stabilized. She has undergone multiple rounds of bloodwork, broad‑spectrum deworming, and three different courses of antibiotics. She is currently on Science Diet z/d. Most recently, she received an abdominal ultrasound, yet even the internal medicine specialist has been unable to determine the underlying cause of her severe digestive issues.
Her symptoms are constant and debilitating. She has uncontrolled diarrhea that requires continuous cleanup and monitoring, and for her own safety and hygiene she must be kept in her cage. Her quality of life is suffering, and despite my best efforts, I am no longer able to provide the level of care she desperately needs.
I do not feel safe returning her to the breeder, and I am terrified that if I cannot find a rescue equipped to help her, she may end up somewhere that will choose euthanasia. Nudel is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting, and she deserves a chance at a life where her medical condition can be properly investigated and treated.
I am pleading for assistance in finding a rescue or foster who can take her in and give her the care I can no longer provide. This situation has taken a significant emotional toll, and I am trying to do what is truly best for her.

@mankxiousk , brainstorming here, have you shared with your vet and specialist rehoming to help network?
I know my vet has several sphynx clients and maybe yours or the vet techs can also help network and or adopt.
I know my vet and the techs have adopted special needs kitties. Just last month my vet tech adopted two special needs furbaby kitties and got continued care at the office
.
*** curious if they did a stool sample check to rule out giardia, tritrichomonas or crypto that we have seen with some sphynx with diarrhea that finally got a diagnosis and meds. some vets will treat for giardia with metronidazole(flagyl) meds in case a false negative test. sometimes takes more than one round of treatment.

hugs n head smooches

Hi Karl . I have just read your heartbreaking and honest decision and plea for help for sweet little Nudel. I am sorry that I cannot directly help (Im in the UK) but sincerely hope that you and Nudel find the help that you need .I agree , it may be worth having another word with your vet to see if they can help. I know here in the UK there is a sphynx rescue association , if there is anything similar in the US could you make enquiries with them ? You are both in my thoughts

I do know of Alberta Sphynx Rescue (ASR). ASR I'm not too sure if there is one closer to you or not but they maybe able to help with your situation. Instead of just surrendering her to a local shelter.
