I'm so sorry for your loss of dear Shiva. My heart grieves along with yours at the loss of your dear friend.

Having had a diabetic cat, I know the hard work and sleepless nights you have put in. Shiva knows it, too.

Hugs and love from me and Gabriel.

It is so wonderful to meet such an awesome group of people. I would never expect to find so many people who understand my relationship with my Shiva.

We buried him tonight. I gave him a final kiss on the forehead and let him go. I couldn't watch my brother bury him. I spent about 20 minutes saying my final good byes... I just can't stop crying. I can't believe he's really gone. I was hoping that spending the extra time would help...but it only reminded me... he's dead. I'm sorry... I guess I'm not ready to talk. I do pretty good for awhile then it comes back..

Shiva used to always follow me... That's where he taught me about heater bathing. We had a wall vent about 4" off the floor. He would put 2 feet over and 2 under and kinda roll back and forth. WHen the heat would turn off he would yell at it to come back on. If that didn't do it he would throw back his head and yell at me to fix it...

Then there were the liver treats. He LOVED them!! It started out I gave him one here and there and we worked up to 4. Then one day I only gave him one. He asked politely...then he yelled... then he climbed up on the sink and opened the cabinet. He looked inside and tapped on the container with his paw. I gave him one and called Alice... He went through the whole thing again and he didn't stop until he got his four treats.

He went through a brief period of sitting on top of the front door. That stopped the day Alice didn't know he was up there and went to close it. Did you know Sphynxs can fly? All she did was move the door and he was gone...soring through the room like Super Sphynx landing on top of the entertainment center. I reached for him and he came right down...

This really helps... I can talk about him this way...let's see one more...

Oh the first night. The night I realized I'm a good cat mom, but I really don't think I could handle humans...lol. Shiva was suckling and we called the breeder she suggested a bottle. So there it was bed time. I gave baby Shiva his bottle and he was so sweet...fell right to sleep. So did I..."mommmm....mommmmm?" I looked at the clock, it had been 5 minutes. "Can I have a little more?" awwwwwww sure Shiva...I fed him again and he went to sleep. A few minutes later "hi mom". After a few more times I hid the bottle under my pillow...well he found it...I hid it again... There was no hiding the bottle! So I fed him again and put the bottle under an inverted glass. It took him a few minutes and he knocked the glass over on my head. At this point what do you do???? You get the ashtray (you use as a jewelry catchall) and you dump all the milk in it. Give him the bowel and the bottle. Put the pillow over your head and go to sleep while he suckles your shoulder.

Well, while I'm in a happier space I'll go. Thank you again.

Thank you, Luna, for trusting us enough to share such special memories. That is how you keep Shiva alive... through your memories and through all of us.

I can't imagine what you are going through, but just know... that MANY of us are mourning with you. I will miss your little Shiva and I will never forget him. He made such an impact on so many lives... you should take comfort in that.

Thank you for sharing your stories. Not only does that help you but it helps us understand how awesome he was. He sounds amazing and I think most of us have babies just like this so it helps us understand how hard this is for you.

We are all here for you so please, anytime you want please come tell us stores. They bring a smile to my face :BigSmile:

You and Shiva were certainly blessed to have found one another. I enjoyed reading your special memories of Shiva and feeling the love that you had for him through your words. I'm so terribly sorry that he is gone now. I know that you will miss him deeply but I hope that you will find some comfort when you reminisce about Shiva and how he touched your life and your heart.

I had a supper meeting after school tonight and got back home about an hour ago. I put on my jammies and got comfy on the couch, then realized I didn't have my Shiva shake tonight like I promised...
So, I slipped a coat over my jammies, put a pair of crocs over my slipper socks and got in the car and went through Mickey D's drive through and got a vanilla shake and a glass of water. I came home, snuggled up on the couch and just read your special memories of Shiva while I drank my shake in his memory. Made me feel close to him and to you....I didn't know Shiva, but I could feel his spirit through the stories you've shared and the love the two of you had for each other through the pictures and posts you've posted here for us....and I truly do grieve his loss.
Thanks for the shake and the snuggles tonight, Shiva Dancing--you danced your way into so many hearts here...we won't forget about you, little guy.
Now I pray for peace for your mommy, Shiva--please comfort and surround her with your spirit and love.
Hugs,
Susi

I have been putting in a lot of hours at work and have not been able to get to the Lair and am just catching up on things and am beside myself with grief at the loss of the precious babies that I am reading!

I am so terribly sorry to hear about your precious Shiva. I love your stories of him and can picture all of the funny, loving and amazing things he did. What a beautiful Sphynx he was and such a blessing in your life. He knew how much you loved him. He was your heart- cat and the connection you shared will continue on even in his passing.

My husband is going to make one of his famous vanilla shakes for us tonight which we will share with our nakeds in memory and honor of Shiva. I often rub Butter Jones tummy and makes wishes so tonight I will rub his pink tummy with a special wish for you and Shiva.

Hugs and purrs,
Kris, Gable, Amaryllis and Butter Jones

Thank you all. I'm sure every day will get easier. I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. I just got up a few hours ago.

I'm going to talk to the vet and see if they might waive my expected payment for Feb. It is so sad to have this huge bill and no Shiva at my side. I'm also hoping maybe the they might bring the bill down a bit...although with the way the staff is I doubt it. The total is alot higher than I expected. I called and asked them for an itemized bill today.

Well I'm going to go and try and eat something...oh before I go Neon has followed Butterball's example and now has a cool tattoo on the back of his neck. He said he thought it would hurt, but it was over in 30 seconds! He said he could do without the wet paper part, but it's cool. I figure putting it where he doesn't lick would make it last longer. I have several different types and qualities. I'm going to experiment and see which one works best. I might start a thread ...the pics would be fun. They never worked on Shiva.

I hope you feel better.
Let me know if you want to talk again.
Remember part of Shiva live on in Cleo and Polar.

It was so nice talking to you and we'll talk again soon. It was cool discovering that Shiva was related to your kitties. I found you some more links too!

A woman named Carol posted this at the diabetic cat site.

Dear Mom,

I’m just about to take a nap, for I’ve been running free.
I was chasing butterflies, and one small bumble bee.
I’ve rolled around in catnip, I’ve climbed high in a tree
And now I’ll rest all cuddled up with others just like me.

I’m in a truly lovely place, it’s right by Heaven’s gate.
I’m not alone, and I am told this is the place to wait.
I’ve told everyone about you, they said you won’t be late.
That though on earth long years will pass, I’ll meet you by the gate.

There’s a bridge we’ll cross together, it has a rainbow hue
And really it’s so pretty here, that all I miss is you.
So please don’t think about the things you did or didn’t do
It was my time to find the bridge, so please do not feel blue.

I’m sorry that I left so fast, without a kiss good-bye.
But I’ve enclosed a “head butt†and a slow blink of my eye.
Take care of all our family and tell them that I’ll try
To be the one that greets them first, when they come, by and by.

Love and thanks for being such a good mom,
your Shiva

In regards to the poem feel free to save it and pass it on from other kitties.

I'm hanging in there. I still cry. Although I don't look in his favorite places and expect to find him as much. I found some of his special things... The huge red bow I bought him Christmas before last. His "Super Sphynx" cape, his favorite shirt, and his brush. I put the bow and brush up on a cabinet where I could see them.
My vet started a memorial for him through one of the Washington State Universities, As soon as I post his picture and all I'll put a link up. That was a surprise I didn't expect.

I noticed we lost another baby...is it just the time of year? It's just too many all at once.
