It is with great sadness I must share this news that a long time member here on the Lair @zoinks has lost one of her babies - Alfie. She has not been around the Lair much but is an active member in our Instagram family. RIP Alfie.

Sorry I have not been active, we have been under a lot of stress with Alfie's health and some personal things too.

Alfie was diagnosed with mild HCM at 11 months, moderate a year later, and a few months ago progressed to severe with congestive heart failure. He passed away in my arms at only 2 1/2 years old, from some heart related issue. He had what looked like a terrible seizure for 30 seconds then he was gone. His tongue was blue. He seemed to lose consciousness so I hope he didn't suffer.

I would urge anyone who is getting a new sphynx kitten to choose a reputable breeder who cares about HCM and scans for it - to try to avoid the potential heartache.

So very sorry, zoinks. May Alfie run like the wind...breathing easily and free from pain of any sort. He will continue to live in your heart and sweet memories forever. He knew he was most certainly loved...and that, my dear friend, is everything.

You gave Alfie the best life ever, and you're both blessed to have spent the time you did together.
