I just adopted a new girl to add to my crew.

I'm told she's 10 and was being fed some mature diet. (She doesn't recall the brand :/)

I feed BB wilderness chicken. My girls do fine on it.

But this new girl is having runny poops. Could it be stress? She also didn't seem to be fed a lot because she is somewhat skinny to me.

Congrats with your new girl! What's her name and do you have pics of her?:).

Switching food can cause diarrhea. Specially when there was no time to switch. You didn't no the brand the other person used so you couldn't do anything different them pick your own brand. But I think that is causing the diarrhea!

I heared pumpkin (pure one!) can help to stop the diarrhea.

Her name is Mugsy.

I adopted her off of kijiji, which is essentially Canadians Craigslist.

The woman didn't seem too phased to be giving up her baby :/ and I think it is kinda weird she didn't know what she was feeding her.

My grandma and I look at her and have trouble believing she is 10. She's smaller than my 2 year old sphynx who's 11lbs.

Can I mix pumpkin with dry? I have no wet cat food right meow ;) my other girls ate it all haha

Aaaw Mugsy is a sweety!! Glad you took her in your heart and home so she gets the love she deserves.
I never gave pumpkin myself cause I can't find pure pumpkin were I live but what I heard I know people mix it with wet food. Don't know if you can mix it with dry.
Think @Catzzzmeow will know this, she's very experienced.

Hope the diarrhea will be gone soon!

@Bobbafett Hey there stranger. Congrats on the new girl.i What a sweet face. I would get a vet check set up right away and bring a poop sample. The vet will most likely be able to guesstimate the age by her teeth. Being as she is a senior, her muscle tone will not be as big as your young girls so it can be deceiving I have seen the changes in Babas over the years and he just doesn't look bulky like he did when he was younger.

Stress and change of food both can be cause for runny poop, but the fecal test will rule out parasites and that needs to be checked before trying the pumpkin trick. Also often seniors can start to show signs of kidney issues and that too can cause cats to thin down. Your vet will also look for any issues with her teeth, where if here are any issues it can cause them to be thinner as it often hurts for them to eat hard food. Bottom line blood work will be the road map to her healthy future.

I agree with you it is odd the owner doesn't recall her food and she does look a bit thin. With a vet check and love from you and Grandmother she will plump right up and your hearts will too. What a lucky girl to have found you for her forever home.

Alrighty. Blood work it will be.

She doesn't seem phased to be eating dry food. She actually ate A LOT when I brought her home which makes me think they weren't exactly feeding her that much :/

Congrats, on your new girlie. I'm glad, you got her too. She deserves
a great, permanent, home. Full of loving, spoiling, and good health care.
Great advice, @Catzzzmeow gave you. Let us know what you find out.
I don't think I would Let her be around your other babies, until, I
found out what is going on with her.
She could make them sick, If she has anything contagious.
Hope the Vet visit goes good. Nothing wrong with her.

Congrats... I saw that ad too and had emailed the girl to inquire about her. It was bad timing though, with the wedding and vacay this month I didn't pursue it. I also found it strange too that the girl was just giving up a cat she had for 10 years. Glad that this little one found a great home. Can't wait to see the FB pics of her.

I just posted in another thread that pumpkin in the diet is supposed to work very well. My new boy had soft unformed stools. I switched to a mix of raw and Weruva in the morning and Weruva in the evening. Many of their flavors have pumpkin. I also purchased a can of the pumpkin from the pet store to add to their bowl if I feed them another grain free brand.
