Scared and ready to cry

Well we have had my little miz miz (black hooded female rat) for almost 2.5 years and she is very old (rats normal only make it to 1 to 3 years at most). Well last night I found the worst thing ever My baby girl has a tumor Being that she is so old she would not make it threw surgerey it would kill her I don't know how much longer she will be around and I am trying not to freek out and just make her comfterbul (I gave her some pumkin pie). I am really not ready to lose her she is my last pet rat and after her it will just be our snakes and no one to show love to I pray my baby girl makes it threw this and lives alot longer

That is precisely why I won't ever own another rat--I had a sweet little girl named Mayzie--and I adored her. Never realized what short lifespans they had. I was devastated when she developed a tumor and I lost her. Sobbed for days. I understand how you feel. I pray your old girl lives a lot longer as long as the quality of her life is still good.

So sorry to hear this, if it helps, our daughters hamster had a tumor for a very long time before passing away and appeared to live quit comfortably.

Thank you everone for your prays and good vibes. I have been keeping a eye on her. She is not drinking much and dusent wont to eat. I will be getting her baby food later to day so she can get some food and water that she really needs. The only thing so fare that she wonts to eat on her own is ceareal so she has been getting that. I might have to put some meds on her tumor she keeps scraching it (its on her nipple). I am praying she dosent ripe it open. She is still loveable as all can be, she wonted to come out and give kisses this morning. Will keep ever one posted and thanks again

It is hard that they live for such short time. I am sorry to hear what happened to your rattie. It is very hard losing them (I was out of work for a week last time). An after my little miz miz passes I wont be getting another pet rat because of the short life span. An thanks for the prays

I'm sorry. It's so hard to have rodents because they have such short life spans. Rats are so cute and intelligent. I hope your little one stays happy and comfortable...she has a very good rat parent.

if she doesnt want to eat a great stimulator is ensure, or soy baby formula. i used to breed and I would often have pregnant moms who didn't want to eat my my vet would suggest these things. i stopped breeding because not only do they not live long its a horrid thing to breed your favorite girl and have her pass two days later and leave you 9 babies to hand feed.

Sending warm wishes your way I hope she pulls through. I had hairless rats for a long time and I know how hard it is to see them go. It doesnt seem fair that such precious things live such short lives.

Hi babysphynx...know how you feel. My kids and I had a hamster named Puffalump, who developed a tumor on his tummy. He had surgery, $500. and lived another 9 months before developing another one. We tried more surgery but the doctor called in the middle of it to let us know it was too extensive to save him.Yes it was alot of money for a hamster, but it taught my kids so much about how every life is sacred. Thanks for the info, if doon this befor. My little girl HATES formula. Its hard breeding them, if had still births, parents dien, them eating there babys, baby stuck.


But I have gotten her to eat, she only wonts human food if thats what she will only eat thats what she getting lol. She is still doing ok and acting normal but gona still watch her
