Our baby Camira is just 5 months old, the last two days she has exhibited some strange behavior and wanted to get some opinions while I wait for a call back from the vet. Until Camira is bigger, we have her sleeping in a big pet crate with lots of blankets for her to snuggle in with...my fiance and I are terribly worried about rolling over on her and crushing her during the night.

In the mornings she bounds out and is excited to wake everyone up and tell them good morning. I had class early yesterday morning and my fiance had class about an hour after I did. He jumped on gchat and told me he was concerned about Camira, she wouldn't come out of her crate and when he took her out, she ate a bit and immediately went back in and wouldn't come out. Concerned, I rushed home after class only to find a very silly kitten trying to climb the blinds and running around the house. Throughout the day, she acted like herself, playing and cuddling.

This morning, it was again strange to not feel kitty feet on my back and I got up and found Camira still in her crate. I pulled her out and brought her up onto the bed and tucked her under the covers with me. She fought against it and immediately jumped off the bed and back into her crate. As we got ready to leave, my fiance took her from the crate and downstairs with us...only to have her leap from his arms and bound back up the stairs and into her crate.

Not sure if there is something wrong or if maybe she's just behaving strangely for some reason. Was hoping to get some insight...sorry for the long post!!

She appears to be eating normally as well as drinking and using the litter box...the personality change was just so noticeable given how energetic she is all the time! She will be in with the vet later this afternoon, just got that confirmation.

I hope everything is okay with Camira! It sounds like she might be uncomfortable with her surroundings. How long did you guys have her for? It can also be that she's scared or is in some type of internal pain? I hope the vet has answers. Keep us posted!

Sound to me like she is tired and thinks she has to sleep in her crate so that is where she goes.
You said she is fine during the day.
You could try removing the crate and letting her sleep where she wishes. I know when ours are sleeping there is no getting them up and if it is cold Leo will not budge, not even for food.

I was just going to say the same thing.

She may just think of that as her bed and when she's sleepy she goes to sleep in there with her blankies.

My furry cat does the same thing (only not with a crate).
He has a kitty tree that is literally falling apart (I think he's too heavy) so I bought him another bed and of course he just slept in his beloved kitty tree.

It must just be a habit of hers :)

Has it been colder where you are the last couple of days? Like everyone else said she may think she has to sleep in her crate, but if there has been an increase in temp over the past few weeks and then a stark drop, her metabolism might be having a hard time keeping up and she might be really lethargic in the morning. Also, dint forget that we recently changed the clocks, so while you can read the clock and figure it out in your head, your kitty thinks it is still an hour earlier!

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the advice/suggestions...the temperature has actually been unusually warm for Wyoming at this time, but after taking her to the vet, she seems to be her normal, energetic self! The vet loved her and said she's a very healthy baby! His one concern was that she was fixed too young..an issue for us to take up with the breeder as she came to us spayed...he also told us she looked (by her teeth) to be about a month older than what we were told by the breeder...also concerns me, but perhaps she mixed up litters? Overall we have one healthy baby kitty! The vet loved her disposition AND has had several sphynx cats as patients before, so he knows a lot about the breed!
