So long little buddy.

I haven't posted on the forum in a long long time, but wanted to drop by with a bit of sad news. Our oldest (he would have been 5 on March 31st) Nathan Scott Phillips, has passed. Monday evening he collapsed and was in distress for about 15 seconds. I called the emergency vet and they asked for me to bring him in for observation. At first I thought what he had was a seizure, but after the xrays and bloodwork, it was determined he had severe heart disease and was in congestive heart failure. :cry: HCM claims another. I never had him scanned before, and now I wish I would have. Pippin is doing ok, but you can tell he senses the loss. I'm going to have him scanned in 2 weeks and hope for the best. If he does show signs of HCM, at least we can start treatment before it get to the point where Nathan was at. I feel like I've lost a piece of my body. This hurts so much. The best thing about it I guess is that I was able to hold his little body and give him one last face rubbing session. He was purring and then he was gone. So sad.

@CrispyStatic I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were with him during his last seconds. He is flying free now and playing with my Sissy and other members nakeds that crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Free of pain and discomfort. RIP Nathan Scott Phillips.

I am so sorry for your loss. You are in the exact same situation I was last November and it is so traumatising it's unreal. I had to do CPR on my girl, but we made the decision to end her pain when she was struggling later that week. The way they look when they have passed away is so scarring, I hope in time you can forget it like I am trying to everyday.

I found it really helpful to get a couple of paintings done, and to put her things away so that I didn't keep smelling them and crying. It's really important to keep yourself busy and try not to dwell on should haves would haves could haves... they will torture you.

All our love to you and the little ones that still keep you company. We hope with time the pain becomes bearable.

I usually avoid this section like the plague. It took just 2 seconds and I had tears rolling down.
Heart Disease is evil and it takes loved ones without warning, and sometimes without a chance to say goodbye. I'm glad you got to hold him, and comfort him, but I'm so terribly sorry for your loss.
I'll tell Paul tonight to look out for him up there, and give him a nice head rub and a cuddle.
