I got home tonight (was gone ALL day) just after supper, and my husband was like, oh, by the way, Molly had a runny poop, but I scooped the box out for you. An hour later, she was in there again, with another runny poop. An hour and a bit later, was in there with ANOTHER runny poop, this time more watery. She has pooped a total of 4 times in the last 8-odd hours...

She ate her normal food and amount today (raw with pre-mix, nothing different)... I can hear lots of gurgling in her tummy, and feel kind of a gurgling off and on when I put my hand on her tummy...

Funny thing is, I have been going to the litter box with her, and I swear this last time I saw her nibbling on some (it is the Arm & Hammer Corn litter).

The only thing that I can think of is that she may have had a nibble on my agave plant and has the runs because of that... She is being cuddly and just wants to lay on me, a bit of purring, but not interested too much in playing.

If she still has the runs in the morning, we will take her in to get it checked out... her belly looks a bit bloated too. Going to grab some red bull tonight and stay up to keep an eye on her to make sure that she is okay :Sweat:

Hope she is feeling better. My dogs eat the litter off the floor by the litter box. I try to clean it up after every use but the little stinkers use it without me seeing. I also use corn litter. Could this be the reason of her runny poops?

I looked up Agave online and it does appear to be mildly toxic to cats and can cause diarrhea or vomiting. If Molly isn't feeling better I would take her and this info to her vet.
Good luck, hope she feels better soon!

Thanks all, I was bleary-eyed this morning, but she seems to be feeling better. Has eaten a few tablespoons today, though I had to put tuna on it, as she wouldn't touch it the regular way.

Had another runny poop this morning, but her belly bloating is gone, and she was being a crazy kitty this morning tearing around the house.

So, as I am sleep deprived and worried this morning, my husband gave her a bit of food and PUT IT IN THE DIRTY DISH FROM HER LAST NIGHT'S RAW MEAL!!!! I lost my mind, like, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" He thought that I did it all the time. Um, no, that is why we have a dozen cat dishes for her, so that there are always clean ones for her raw food!!! I love him dearly, but the man has NO concept of food safety practices (he will also leave dairy based dip out on the counter for 12 hours and think he can still eat it). Sigh. He has clearly never had food poisoning to know why it is so important to be careful when handling food!!

Yes, thanks for looking it up! I knew that it was mildly toxic, so looks like it is getting re-homed. The rest of my plants are in places that she could never get them (like hanging baskets), or I have gotten rid of them.

We have been using the corn for a month without issue, although I don't like how it tracks... looks like we are going to get new litter this afternoon (again!)

I hope she keeps improving. Poor mom for having to stay up to watch her. Hopefully you got some sleep.

How long has she been on raw? If it's not long, she might be craving carbs and think that the corn litter smelled like something to eat.

Bob has had food poisoning twice!!! And he STILL is really casual about leaving food around!!!:Dizzy: But he doesn't do it with the cats, at least!

She seems good now, crisis averted... she had 2 big servings of food this morning, and I think it will just take a couple of days for her poop to go back to normal, I put in a bit of pumpkin to try and help that along.

Only mildly related,

I once fostered a stray regular kitten (5 weeks or so) that literally walked into my office one day, howling.
I had a bag of World's Best laying around so I made it a litter box first while I went to fetch some wet food.
When I came back, the kitten was in the litter box, munching away!

Of course I grabbed him out of there immediately, placed him in front of the plate of wet food, and he attacked it like a vampire.

Poor thing was so hungry it really thought the clean litter smelled like food!
