My kitty was sick with pneumonia. He still is a little sick and has lung tissue scarring. I have read that sphynx temps run higher but nothing on the web says what it should be specifically. I was wondering if anyone knows. His temp was 104 yesterday, I am not sure if that is normal for Sphynx cats. He is a kitten about 5 months old. I am trying to ween him off of soft food but it is very difficult. He eats royal canin kitten food but it says up to 4 months so I wasn't sure what to switch to. I also have royal canin hard food but he i uninterested even if I add water to it. I was looking for advice on getting him off soft food as well as what food you recommend. Thank you so much.

Did you try to switch to Royal Canin wet food for kittens older then 5 months? He can still eat wet food next to dry food.

I know I'm a noobie but I had a hard time finding it. I found it for siamese and maine coons etc but not Sphynx specifically. I would keep him on just soft food but it's incredibly expensive and I wasn't sure if it's healthy because he horks it down haha.

I give my crew Royal Canin Gastro Instestinal Wet Food. I don't feed the RC for sphynx cause the breeder told me most sphynx don't like it and gdf tummy issues. If the Royal Canin food is too expensive just look for a wet food that you can efford. Most here feed wet food twice a day and free feed dry food fill the cat is 1 years old

101 is a normal temp so 104 is a little high. Keep an eye on it and see the vet in the morning if it doesn’t go down.

Wet food should be the staple. A little kibble for a snack is great but you really want that moisture from the wet food diet. It also has less carbs. (Now, there is the occasional kibble snob who refuses all other foods. Can’t really do anything about it. They still need to eat. They survive fine, they are just at increase risk for kidney disease).

@Chenoah , is your baby on any antibiotics? 104 is higher than normal. how is he tonight?

as far as food, there are many great choices. I have 4 nakids. no poo or skin issues . free feeding:

Nutrisource cat and kitten food is the main food. very palatible. my moms sick kitty just switched to it, loves it smooth transition. I get it online. never been recalled either. feeding it for years. my oldest is 10. never go to the vet for issues.

my other adult really likes science diet urinary hairball dry. ( hairball formulas can be good for stool issues bcz of the fiber)

I give wet food daily too.

please keep us updated on your baby. hugs n head smooches

@Chenoah wet food is better on their kidneys. Generally if they are unwell they will need whatever food that they will eat. Usually wet food is what they feel like when they are sick.

I would not be worried about the age mention on the packaging of the Royal Canin kitten product my cat is 6 years old and the vet has prescribed this food because she’s very sick for its nutritional value.

Royal Canin have a phone and email you can contact them off their website to ask questions.
