I just got a quote on SHiva's x-ray and yep...50 - 60 dollars.

3 days is pretty much the max for a cat not eatting... but it sounds like he's starting up. I would go to another vet for a second opinion and get the x-ray to be on the safe side. He might have just had a virus...but $60 is a small price to pay to be sure . Does he seem uncomfortable ...is his tummy tender?

I had a friend whos cat ate a whole bunch of rubber bands. They saw them in the x-ray in time. Because it was a large blockage he had major surgery. He did fully recover.
