Say you get a cheap kitten and it is sick.
Then it will end up costing way more then from a breeder.
Some breeders will sell older kittens cheaper and retired breeders are cheaper.
Good points! If a breeder for some reason doesn't find them homes when they're younger the usually do drop the price, and they also will spay and find pet homes for some of their breeders when they're done breeding them, so that's something else you can consider!

Wow that's crazy. I'm here in Missouri and I was looking for a local breeder and looked at this pic on the breeders web-site at one point. Course the price was not 300. I hope you eventually find a good breeder and a cute kitten Marinka.

Yes, I did spend only $400 for my (much) older sphynx, but after seeing all these sphynx scam stories on here, I realize how REALLY lucky I was that everything went okay with our transaction and that Piglet is a healthy and well-adjusted sphynx cat.

I do regret that I know little to nothing about Piglet's background, breeding, or history, except what her former owner told me (which wasn't much). With my two Siamese cats on the other hand, I got them as kittens from a reputable Siamese breeder, so I know everything there is to know about them and their lineage.

Hang in there, Marinka, you'll find the right kitty soon. If I were you, I'd try to find a rescue sphynx through Petfinders.com or a reputable sphynx rescue group rather than through craigslist or hoobly. I found Piglet through a sphynx rescue group on Yahoo.

I also only paid $400 for my Blueberry but look at the mess. I know nothing about the line she comes from, she was prego at 6mo. I have already put over $500 into the kittens, xray's $300, blankets, bottles, kitten milk, ETC. over $200. I'm not even close to done, all five will need shots, altering, food for 14 weeks,ETC. I will be over $1500 by the time I'm done.. For that I could have bought a healthy kitten from a great breeder.. I wanted CHEAP also, my hubby almost has a stroke when I told him I wanted to pay $1500 for a kitten(Now he's wishing he let me pay $1500)...and look at me now..Save your money up, even $50 at a time. Buy from a good breeder...Cheap is not always best..

sydkat7, Jinxlover you guys completely right. It makes so much scene to me. Good idea just to put away a little bit every week. Is there anywhere on this forum a some kind of list about what kind of papers breeders suppose to give you when you buy a kitten?

I considered getting a sphynx for about a year before my purchase. I found a breeder and we kept in touch throughout the year until one day, I was finally ready and she had one available. It was kind of weird how it worked out. We still keep in touch.

Yes, this is a scam. I just saw on another forum last week, someone mentioned this exact photo was stolen from a breeder's website and used on an ad. It happens all the time.

I'm glad you came here to check first! Don't be too sad, keep looking, you'll find your sphynx soon.

same thing happened to my breeder!!! someone took pics off of her website and she had to get them copywrited or whatever. people are sick

The real owner of that kitten said someone stole pictures of her kittens from her website. These people are doing this to everybody. If you see a Sphynx kitten that cheap, it's a scam. Don't fall for it.

It is terrible that people pray on the innocent in these scams. My daughter almost got caught up in one last year. A person was advertising a pure bred Yorkie puppy for $300... shipping free from Nigeria. THERE is NO way that was real. The photo he emailed my daughter was copied right off a Yorkie calendar ! I know people who fall for these scams, but it is so sad that you wanted a kitten so badly only to discover it was lies for money.

Maybe if you give the name of this person and where they are located someone here could check them out if they live close to them.

I feel for this as well. i aslso chose the same kitten.

i kept telling them COD lol and we even went as far as her telling me the kitten was waiting at the airport i just had to wire money to some agent. I goggle mapped where i was supposed to send the money and it was a barn out in the middle of the woods lol they also sent me a really cheesy animal delivery e-mail but the photo of the delivery people had logos from a completely

different company. not to mention they also said the kitten would be delivered right to my door, all this for 300... well they even broke down and said i only had to pay 150 now and 150 when i get the cat.

If its to good to be true, then it probably is.

the whole experience was draining and it really made me realize its worth it to just pay the extra and have the kitten you really want and know that no one is scheming on you.

wow! this is just sick! i lost for words...a**holes...:(

2jessevch - this is the name she/he used and place they said they will ship from. Liza Almana. Rogersville, Tennessee
Im pretty sure the name isn't real prob as an address.
Make me wanna write them how crappy ppl they are. Oh BTW After my last email to her where I wrote everything sounds good and that Im on the forum and read a lot of info about this breed so she shouldn't worry about me being inexperienced with the breed (because she wrote me she was afraid to give away to some one who never had this breed before). I guess after she read about forum she realized she lost me. She never wrote me back again. B**ch

Yeah mine was named Nelly Harris, but also from Rogersville, Tennessee
and wanted me to send the money to Patricia Smith, 202 Price Road Rogersville,TN 37857 USA. and even gave me a character reference to contact who was also named smith

the last e-mail they sent me said how they where good Christian home and would never cheat anyone. And even though in this make believe world where they took the kitten and had it waiting for hours in the air port for me to wire the money, if i would just wire them the money now they would be happy to take it back to the airport.

Hopefully other people will see this and save them selves some heart ache.

Hello guys! Im pretty new to this forum. The reason I why I registered is because I really want to adopt/buy/rescue lovely female kitten or adult Sphynx. Ive been doing a reseach for about 2 weeks now. Today I got luck (or not) and found 3 kittens lady selling with shipping. We have been writing emails back and force, Ive been asking about the health, HCM scanning and other stuff. At the end of it all she wrote me this " They have been checked for eye, heart, and respiratory health and receive a Vet Health Certificate, and of course, they come with a 1 Year Health Guarantee. The total cost is 300$ and the shipping will be done via climate controlled airplane. There will be NO HIDDEN FEES involved so all you will have to pay is 300$. I will make adding your baby to the family a smooth, easy transaction. She comes with a pedigree that won't stop! They are true hairless, with very nice thick furnishings and good clear skin.
I will just need to make the change of hands papers and proceed with making arrangements for delivery."
So Im asking you guys for help! Is this sound good or a little suspicious? Please help. I got so excited I found "my kitty", but of coarse because Im unexperienced (never had cat Sphynx before) I dont know thing about them. So please help. Thanks for your help!
I thought I bought a teacup puppy so I sent the person 550 and I have no puppy to show for it they will tell you any thing to get your money so be careful sound to good to be true

Sphynx cat prices vary by breed, size, color, and other factors. The Sphynx's exceptionally endearing personality, not uncommon in any other cat, is why I am so impressed and loved by her and have always wanted to keep her. From what I understand, a Sphynx kitten from a breeder can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $4,500 depending on the breeder's reputation and other variables, and Sphynx cats are not only expensive but adorable. requires a lot of maintenance.
