Hello, anyone have an idea why my sphynx has so many brown dots all over his body now. I will be taking him to the bet to make sure he doesnt have any skin conditions . He stays in the sun a lot more than i would like and i always thought they were sun spots but now he has so many.

@Bones, welcome to the lair family.. what is your cuties name? hope you can post an introduction of him when you get a chance.

sorry he has been having a skin issue.
members will surely chime in with their experiences you can mention during his vet visit.
always best for early intervention. they may do a skin scraping to test for yeast , bacterial?

any changes of litter food? laundry detergent, fabric softeners?

we have even seen kitties with urticaria pigmentosa , images on a few threads here.

My adoptee had severe pigmentation in a broad area (not spots). when I got him. members often install a window film.
I put his cat tree in an indirect light area.

glad you are taking him in to see the vet
hugs n head smooches, positive vibe for your baby

following closely for updates

@Ramesses , welcome to the lair family.. hope you get a chance to post an introduction thread of your adorable Rameses . feel free to start a separate thread on Ramesses skin and details. did the vet check ,skin scrape for yeast or bacterial? some kitties get skin reactions to foods as well as scented litters, corn , walnut litters too

hi @yodamom the vets here seem inexperienced with Sphynx cats and they haven’t done a skin scrape nor suggested it. All the vet told me yesterday was to apply some anti bacterial spray on the spots just incase it was bacterial so more of a trial and error approach unfortunately

forgot to ask if you use coconut oil? some kitties are sensitive to it as @Monica shared in the past

I didn’t use any oil yet but I only had Ramesses for about a week now and he already had those spots but I feel like they’re spreading fast however they don’t seem to bother him at all and he doesn’t scratch them

I hope it's nothing. Please be vigilant in case it progresses and if you can reach out to a cat specialized vet now for second opinion to ensure they have at least encountered your situation as from reading posts here there are still quite a few vets who have no idea how to deal with sphynxes. Try "JustAnswer", you can post a photo and get answer with a cat specialist for free (first 7 days is free).

@Ramesses, vets will also rule out any slim possibility of ringworm , allergies?
btw, happy Ramses gotcha... hopefully a vet even a second opinion can get a diagnosis.
