Started Today ! Eeeeeeek

today is the Day, i started Raw !
I got the mix that you mix into the meat. The nutritouse mix i guess.
Hairy the lil one is sucking it in, like no tomorrow!
Hansel... licks it a bit and goes and by the time he comes back, lil man has it all gouged up .
I have to put some can in Hansels i think.
Now my question also is, it says, feed your cat twice a day .. a portion all together of a 1/2 cup. I weight it and so its 2 ounces in the morning and 2 at night .
Is that too little of food for them ?

Darwin is 8.9 lbs and he eats about 4.5 oz of raw a day and gets a freeze dried chicken heart every other day. He definitely prefers the majority of his daily food to be in the evening and only eats about an oz in the AM.

I believe the standard for raw feeding cats is 2-3% of their body weight per day. Even though Hansel is bigger, he may end up eating less because his activity level is lower.

There is something you can order online called Feline Forti Flora. It is a probiotic made with animal digest that you can sprinkle on top of the raw to get them to start eating it. Since you will be using it just to stimulate them to eat, you can make a packet last several days. I believe there are 30 packets in a box.

update : tonight Hairy scaffed it all in of course and thought Hansel had better and kept going to his. Hansel licked his and then i took it away and waited about 15 min and then Hansel came and wanted more food and i put a bit water on it to make it softer and he ate better .
ok so about 2 ounces each portion ( one morning and one night ) is about right then.
That was beef too , so i am surprised in how well both did !!
I am going out tonight and getting chicken or turkey and will have a variety for them, one day this and one day that ... i think its ok to do each day diff right ?

Day 5 of Raw :

they are both doing awesome! I wish i had some Treats for them, but will soon. I ordered this dry stuff from Amazon for treats and told my Husband that "chickenhearts" are supposed to be great snacks too and he told me, he will cut those for me and Bag them, since i am not touching THAT ! LOL I am picky about what i touch , i even put Gloves on to make their Raw Food.
So far I have made only Turkey and Beef and they really do well on the Beef as well, i am surprised ( I read afterwards that you shouldnt try Beef first , ooops ! )

Today we went to a specialty Petstore in our Area and they do have "Primalpetfood" , thats the Freeze Dry Raw Food. They gave me a whole pack for Samples!! Gosh I absolutly love that Store!! I think i will get some Food from there too, just to have variety taste they have diff Birds of the Wild i will not get at the Butcher here. They do have Treats too, so maybe i can use them as treats ...

The dreaded "litterbox" , doing awesome!! , NO Stink! NO runny Poo!! I am in Heaven !!! Once a Day clean up in the Litterbox verses 6 times a Day - so happy!!!!!

So glad that you are having success! I know its not the diet for everyone, but boy, it sure does work for us! I figure I would rather spend the time preparing food than cleaning up a poopy bum, tail, paws.... And I no longer have to open the patio door when SOMEBODY goes! Which is nice when it is -20 here 4 months of the year!

yeah i am Glad it worked for us too!! I had my doubts about our Older Cat, he is so finicky!!! But he really surprised me !!!
And i know what you mean with the Air !! I felt the same way ...

Congrats on starting Raw!! If they are at a healthy weight they should be getting/eating 2.5% - 3.0% of their body weight on the raw diet.
