After every thing that has happened, and after talking to a few friends, we have decided to start fresh with the whole kitten process. We are looking at 3 kittens for our choices and after looking through our pictures and videos we have found who we are going to make our first pick. We are going with this little guy! No name yet, but we will start thinking of some. We still need to have a second choice which will either be the cream or lavender boy. We are also exactly 2 months away before our gotcha day! 2 months will not go by fast enough!

I'm glad you decided to move on, this little boy is just precious :Adore:
Did you talk to the breeder about your dissapointment?

I forgot to add what I was doing about that. I decided that I wasnt going to talk to her yet about what she did. I decided that I was going to tell her how she made me feel after I had already gotten my kitten and paid for it. I'm deciding this because honestly I feel like I wouldnt make a difference to her. If I talked to her now about the issue, she could with hold pictures from me of the babies so I'm just letting it go for now.

I think now that you've made a choice maybe it's better to just let go of it. Rather spend that energy positively by enjoying the anticipation to your baby. Know you we're disappointed but you've now made a choice and his gorgeous throw away the negative thought and enjoy waiting for your new baby :)

He was my favorite ;)

I'm glad you took some time to calm down and breath!!!! It is so sad that you had such a negative experience but its great to look at it with new eyes and find the positive in it!!!!

My luck has been crummy on the kitten front but I refuse to give up and I think that's the only attitude to have to achieve my goals ;)

Hope little red man does turn out to be your!!!! In the end I know you'll get the kit that you're supposed to ;)

Aww,I think he is adorable, and I think you definitely made a right decision. I think the other breeder should have disclosed to you her intentions and not left you hanging like that. This new guy looks so bright eyed and I LOVE his markings! Great choice!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement and helping me get through all of this. Every hour it gets better and better! I have a lot of great friends talking me though this and helping me see the bright side and getting my head out of the mud! This new little guy, along with the other babies, really are great and loving! They just got the other end of the stick because I let someone get to me. Well not anymore! Hopefully little red will work out for me and if not, I see a lot of good in the other two as well and that is why I cant pick my second choice. Honestly I would take either one of them. They are both different in their own way.

I have also decided, since I've posted earlier, that I wont be talking to the breeder after all about how she treated me. A friend helped remind me that I might need her in the future for baby questions or anything dealing with the kitten, and I wouldnt want to not be able to talk to her because we ended on a bad note. We all know it was wrong for her to do what she did, but making her an enemy isnt what is best for the baby. I got my rant out here so I do feel much better. Thanks everyone for being a great family! Now lets celebrate the new possible baby!

I am happy beyond belief to hear you say this. I had all I could do to keep my mouth shut before because I am a breeder and sometimes I feel like I should just keep quiet because I am often totally against what everyone else is saying. I cannot stress enough to you how important it is to have a good relationship with your breeder. They know that kitten better than anybody and you might need him/her sometime when even the vet can't help you. To burn bridges is a bad mistake. You never know what that person might help you do....maybe even save your baby's life.
Like I have said before.....breeders aren't always able to jump through the hoops we would all like them to. But be thankful they have chosen you as a suitable parent to one of their kits. Sphynx kittens are not difficult to sell....if you piss off the breeder, there are plenty of other folks that will step right up to the plate to buy their kits (unless they sell sick ones or have done something horrible that everyone knows about). That doesn't excuse them from doing business ethically, but we have to remember that they are people, have families and lives and responsibilities too. Most do the best that they can. So when you make a deal with the breeder make sure you know EXACTLY what deal you are making:
1. Do I have absolute pick of the litter, or is it after you have evaluated for your breeding program and sold any breeding stock to other catteries?
2. How soon must I choose?
3. What if I don't see one I like? Is my deposit refundable or must I wait until another litter?
4. If I get pick of the litter and I choose a kit, and then something happens to the kit--do I get a second choice, get a refund, or must I wait for the next litter?
5. How often do you think you will be able to send me photo updates?
6. If I live close enough, may I visit your cattery? Do you have any restrictions on how old the kits must be before you will allow visitors?
7. Do you do your own vaccinations? If so, how many times will the kit get a vet check before I take possession?
8. Will I be leaving with the shot/health records and the blue slip for registration when I come to pick up the kitten?
9. How do you prefer to be paid? A deposit and then cash on delivery? Prior to delivery?
10. What do you want me to bring with me when I pick up the kitten?
11. Will you demonstrate how to bathe, clean ears, clip nails, etc. before I leave?
12. Will you be available if I have questions after the purchase is complete?
13. Would you like me to write a reference for you about my experiences with you as a breeder to do business with, for inclusion on your website?

Then, relax and enjoy the experience. It is wonderful to be able to pick out your kitten from a bunch of choices.....but color matters so very little once they worm their little butts into your heart.

I think the baby you chose is stunning. I love his little face, his vivid eyes, and his coloring. I think you made a GREAT decision and a wonderful choice. Good for you. Don't let ANYTHING spoil the joy.
I am proud of you.

Yeah I really love his markings! They look kinda like spots and the breeder is surprised that he hasnt lost them. So I'm hoping that he keeps them. And I think their eyes start to change at 8 weeks, but I have no clue when they are done changing. He shouldnt have blue eyes because his mom has no gene for them, but she also wasnt supposed to have tabby babies either lol. So who knows!? We are hoping that his eyes turn out like his moms. Her eyes look like pure gold, it's beautiful.

Thanks Susi, this means a lot! I'm still young so it's still hard for me to act like a complete adult when I face situations like this and I'm glad I have you guys to steer me in the right direction. I learned a good lesson that colors do not matter as much as a healthy baby does. Yeah, it's nice to have the color that you want, but health and happiness is a big key. I'm glad that you gave such a great list! I'm putting this into a document now and I'm keeping it forever. With my experiences that I just had, plus your advise, I cant go wrong next time and I will be better prepared.
I'm really happy with my new little guy. He really is starting to grow on me already. He has such a cute little face and he was always trying to play with his other brothers, which is something we were looking for in personality. I cannot wait for him to get older!

This little guy was my favorite - so I'm glad you are "starting fresh"! With him still growing, the personality will only get stronger and more defined!
