Sugar in urine test

Hi all friends!
Asking for help, maybe someone has experience to share... Trying to make it short:
Siiri, my 8 year old primadonna might have some health issues. I noticed her drinking more water this summer, okay it's been hot.... she is a big girl, always has been. A typical couch potato. Collected a urine sample from her for the vet to analyze. Sure enough the urine tested positive for sugar . I panic and take her to the vet for more proper tests. They did bloodwork and I was sure it was diabetes. The bloodwork was normal, no diabetes. Also no problem with the kidneys or thyroid gland. So the vet is happy to view this as a mystery, that cost a lot... so the plan now is to return to the vet next week with a new urine test and take some more blood to check liver, potassium and natrium.
That's it, I just don't like it when a vet does not know what's wrong, kind of scares me. Has anyone here any experience to share or tips that I can take with me next week?

The only change this summer is that Siiri has been very active, screaming at me to open the door so she can go outside on the deck. There she rolls around on the ground, looks at birds and hunts the butterflies. She has also become very vocal at the water bowl, always demanding fresh cold water in her drinking bowl... so, she doesn't act sick, just the drinking and the urine test that indicates sugar.

Hey there nice to see you pop back into the community. Was the first urine test done at the vets and was she very nervous? I have read there can happen due to stress-induced hyperglycemia. This is when a cat’s fear or anxiety at the vet can temporarily spike their blood and urine sugar levels. I also read it can happen if the first sample was old or contaminated. Please keep us updated.

The test was done at home by the book. Kept it in the fridge over night and then drove to the lab in the morning. Maybe if it was stressful for Siiri to be isolated with strange chrystals in the litterbox?

@Zab I have had diabetic dog and cats. There is a great feline diqbetic group with imfo on meters and home testing
