Switching to raw??

My kitten is not home with us yet. I asked which food and she is using kitten royal canin dry only. She suggested I keep him only on dry. I have 3 other furry cats whom enjoy a mixture of dry and a pouch of wet food in the morning.
I have been reading up on the best diet for sphynx and many tend to lean towards raw diet. Do you all agree and if so how do I go about switching him over? Thank you

You mentioned Royal Canin so that is why I'm adding to your thread:

I use Royal Canin Dry Baby Cat until they are four months old, then I switch to Royal Canin Dry Kitten Food. I give them one can each a day. First Royal Canin Baby Cat canned until four months old, then I switch to Royal Canin Kitten Food.

I actually slowly wean them from Baby Cat to Kitten foods slowly once they reach four months old.

I have three boys and my oldest is Liam and he turned one year old in February. I have not switched him to adult food yet because he is not a good eater since he grew up. He can use the extra calories.

Grayson is still on Kitten Food and Simon is getting half Baby Cat (canned and dry) and half Kitten Food (canned and dry).

I mix some water in with the canned food for them each day ever since Liam had a urinary problem months ago.

I also add the powdered L Lysine for Cats right into their canned food bowls.

I know that Royal Canin makes some specific breed foods now. The one for the sphynx isn't in the U.S. yet as far as I know. I know that Canada has the one for the sphynx. One of the things that the Royal Canin Sphynx Food is supposed to do is make them slow down when eating as they have a very fast metabolism. Also, the Royal Canin Sphynx Food only came in adult and I think only in the dry (the last time I checked on it at least).

Again, I know your question was in reference to "raw", but I saw you are using Royal Canin and just got carried away. LOL

Thank you for replying she is also using royal canin baby cat at the moment and she advised I use royal canin kitten or royal canin Persian kitten after 2 weeks of being home. Maybe best to stick to this conventional diet - might confuse my other cats why one gets special treatment! Lol unless of course there is some major reason why raw would be better ?

Neenee was being fed grain free dry and wet food. She has always had problems with runny food- even with the best possible grain free all wet food.

We swtiched her to raw food and within 3 days she started having regular poohs. She has only had one bought of runny pooh and we think it was because she was feeling ill as she was a bit lethargic too but it went away in a day so we didn't worry.

So, yes, for our cat, raw was the way to go and it made for healthier digestion.

two more things:

1. switch over- I believe, unlike standard cat foods, you can switch to raw cold turkey and I think it's prefered- see below

2. some one raw and some not- If you choose to go raw, concider it for all the cats. Do some raw food research online. I read somewhere that the disgestive time it takes to process raw vs. standard food varies and if your cat is getting both that it can lead to digestion issues. If you are feeding both regular food and raw food in the house... and cats eat each other's food, you could have some digestion issues.

raw is easy and you know what u are feeding them... Go to the better in the raw site--- google it I don't think I can say it in here or PM me I make a half a months food at a time and takes me maybe a half hour if that ....
