So I have been crazy busy the last few days with and have heard Hairry sneeze a few times however I came home tonight (about 1am) and he is acting like he has a full blown cold. sneezing up a storm, breathing out of his mouth as if his nose i stuffy and his eyes look red and puffy. We live in nothing little town with no 24 hour vet.... Any suggestions to help him through the night till Monday when he can get to the vet.

If you have L-Lysine, give him that, and take him to the bathroom and run the shower so it gets nice and steamy. My kitten has a URI right now and that really helped her the night before her vet appointment. Other people have had good luck using humidifiers with Vicks in them (don't put Vicks on your cat though, it's toxic). Other than that, I don't know what else you can do other than keep him as comfortable as possible. In the past two nights when my kitten's been congested, she's only been interested in food that was extra stinky. So if he's not eating, maybe try to give him some really smelly wet food and treats. If they can't smell their food, they won't be interested in eating it.

Thank you ^_^ got her into the vet on Friday and she's perking up already. Also you have other cats don't you? Maybe you should separate him from them? I'm not sure how contagious this stuff is but it seems to get passed around. If he's sick they might all end up needing medicine I think.

How much L-Lysine do you give your kitty and how often? I am going to get some first thing in the morning

I give L-Lysine treats which are 250mg. Normally, I give 2 a day (so 500mg) but when Dippy had a URI my vet told me to up it to 1000 while he was ill.

I wouldn't worry about a 24 hr vet unless he rapidly goes downhill, keep an eye on him. if it's just a URI, I'm sure it can wait til Monday, just make sure to keep him comfortable and keep him eating and drinking. What Helsinki suggested about the humidifier is a great idea.

I got my fingers crossed he feels better soon! Get well soon Hairry!

Oh gee, Nicole, I'm just reading this now. So sorry that Hairry isn't feeling well. The humidifier with Vicks and upping the L.Lysine is exactly what I would have written to you if I had seen this before I went up to bed.

Hope he's feeling better.
