TICA website vs breeder claims?

There’s several breeders in my area that claim to be register with TICA and aren’t listed on the website breeder list. Why is this? I’m very cynical and feel like it’s dishonesty… Do you have to pay yearly dues and they think it’s an unnecessary expense?

It’s great you are researching. There are way too many scammers out there. I am sure there are fees involved in registering through the association etc….keep grilling them for answers and trust your gut if something feels off.

@Poodlemum can you call TICA and check the breeders names?
to learn more and perhaps they can answer some of your questions.

**** something I found in a search of why breeders not showing on TICA site:
"You have to pay a separate fee to be listed on the TICA site. They could still be registered and just not advertising. I can't remember how CFA works, but I think it might be something similar. My breeder wasn't listed at the time when I was putting a deposit down for my first kitten either, and the way I quickly checked was just to call TICA and ask them on the phone."
