To determine if kittens are male or female

Hi guys,

I have an odd question, does the vet check the kittens sex when they go in for their first shots ? I have my second kitty home now and I notice a different in their vaginal area (sorry don't know cat terms) my first kitten who is about 16 weeks now has nothing noticeable but my new little kitty who is about 12 weeks old has a noticeable difference. I am wondering if I should be concerned or if maybe she was miss red ? Or maybe it's normal because all cats are different .. She is still very nervous so I cannot get any photos but i think it looks similar to this one I found online.

If you don't know, I would have a Vet tell me.
The pic you shared is small and when, I enlarged it, it, wasn't
very plain.
But, that, pic, looks like a boy, to me.

That picture looks like a male cat. If you can get a pic, please share.

Perhaps you can get a picture of her while she is sleeping?
Definitely would ask your to vet confirm sex

@KarliLeo the pic is small, but from what I can see, it's a male in the photo.

Of your girl looks like the cat on the pic then she is probably a he. Best is to go to the vet and ask for a check. Specially important when your other cat is a female and not neutered...before you know it you'll have kittens!

Hey guys, this is what she looks like. It could just be me being crazy I've never owned a baby female kitten before and my oldest kitten does not look the same.

From the photo you posted of your kitty, that looks like a male kitty to me.
Did your breeder tell you your kitty was a female?

Yes the breeder said female and the vet history book she came with said female too. I didn't contact her yet only because I wanted to make sure i wasn't the only one who didn't know lol

Well, you could confirm with a vet... but the photo you posted looks like both of our boys area back there.
Sorry to have to say it. I am not sure how your breeder would of missed that...
I'll let others chime in as well, but those are just my thoughts.

I mean, i am sure you will love your new kitten no matter what. But I just feel bad that a breeder sold you a "female" kitten which in fact was not a female.

I'm not sure if they just got mixed up while in the vet, there was a lot of other kittens. Funny though we were originally looking for an all pink male due to our other boy who recently pasted away. I'll take her to the vet and figure it out once and for all. I guess I may have to come up with a back up name

That's definitely a boy kitty.

On the other hand, I'm wondering if cats can be hermaphrodites like other species. Anyone know?

The breeder might have given you the wrong kitty but I'm sure he'll be a great companion!

@KarliLeo did you only want another female this time? You definitely have a male kitten there. I can understand mixing up the sex of a kitten when first born or just at the very beginning, but afterwards, there is a definite difference in a sphynx male or female. Furry cats are a bit harder to sex at the beginning.

We sent the photos to the breeder and she said she had questioned it while at her vet and they said it was female because the balls have not dropped ? Which I think she is just too small for that.... So it looks like we are happily welcoming our little boy Theodore(Theo) . A very silly mix up but not a bad one at all, after hearing I was unable to get a pink male like my Leo I was very upset and noticing how much (she) looked like him made us go crazy ... But now to know she is a he... Lol is like our Leo is back at home with us ❤️❤️ Thanks for the help guys ! I will still be visiting the vet to make it 100% but by the looks of it I think I was right after all

I agree, that pic, is a male.
But, I agree also, you'll love him just as much.
Unless, you want a Female, for a special reason.
Or just, want a Female period.
