Biscuit has cancer. Biscuit had been losing weight. Bloods were continuallly great. She is very difficult at the vet. I looked in unsuccessfully for a nutritionist in the NYC area. Finally i requested a scan and she had it the same day as Toni was scanned and not accepted to the HaltHCM program. They found nodules in the gastro tract and one in the liver. Her vet and good friend whose specialty is surgery was against doing a biopsy and has been treating her for small cell lymphoma and possible IBD. Because of her littermates connection to rehab for arthritis at a major teaching hosital, he had us go for an oncology second opinion there. They didn't want to do biopsy or radiology either and agreed with his diagnosis and performed another scan on the spot and found it had substantially shrunk the nodules. She has been taking compounded liquid chemo and omnestron sure-click for possible nausea followed by treats and has been a champ.
Foxy is in kidney failure. The other day there was a death in our Lair family and I went back to my posts when our first sphynx died to see what comforted me at that time. There, I found that at the same time as Paka had been found to be worse, Foxy had crystals in her urine and non-cancerous nodules in her gastro tract. She was successfully treated by a different vet for the urological issue. What followed allowed my small mind to forget Foxy’s gastro diagnosis. At her solensia she was found to be losing weight the last few months and they had been watching it. She had quarterly bloods Tuesday and had creatinine of 2.5. She is being sent for workup to the teaching hospital for a scan and workup. First available February 2 and with other than Biscuit’s vet who is no longer taking new patients. She goes there for rehab Thursday.
My own nephrologist Wednesday, who was quick to say she is no way a vet, looked up solensia and suggested it might be that or dehydration.
We have been thrown for a loop. Got different food for her and supplements and they want her to get fluids twice a week. Now we are talking quality of life. Biscuit, on the other hand, has perked up and is playing and behaving better than before the chemo. They will be 16 March 25.
