@MJ1987 First welcome! I think it is great you joined The Lair and are actively looking for information. We all learn so much from new members
I might have missed it, but how old is your kitty? By the size of the tooth I am assuming it is an adult tooth. I am happy your vet is looking to grind it down before removal. Grinding it down should take care of the issue (if there is even an issue) When Jouët was a kitten, her teeth were growing faster than her jaw so her teeth were cutting into her lower gums and vet said hopefully she would catch up and no ulcers would develop. If ulcers develped, he said grinding and if that did not work, removal. We lucked out that she had no ulcers and her jaw growth caught up. Just because the tooth is not straight, is it effecting eating ? If not then ask why it needs to be ground down or removed. Cats are rip and tear animals...and use back teeth for most eating. If you you have kitty on wet and dry food there is no rip and tear.
Please let us know how this turns out.

Glad you are trusting your gut. Not feeling comfy with a vet is always a concern. See what the vet that you feel comfortable with has to say...if it is a matter of looks, who cares?! heck there are people with more crooked looking teeth than that...lol. If it is causing others issues than yes entertain the possible fixes. Glad you reached out...again let us know in this thread how you made out
