He seems to eat more than the bigger cat given half the chance, is this normal ? He has been checked for worms ect and he is all clear. I just wondered if this is a breed thing?
Sphynx are also know as piggy's when it comes to eating. They could eat a horse and still feel hungry.
But seriously sphynx do eat a lot more then hairy cats cause food helps them keep their temperature right. And kittens in a grow spurt eat even more!
Thank you for your replies, he is on royal canin wet and dry and does seem to like it, are there any treats or other foods anyone can recommend. Thanks again
Something else which We find odd is our night time wash, when he is ready to curl up and sleep he gives us a wash first. Is this another trait of the breed ?
Hello and welcome. Aix is unbelievably adorable. You must be so smitten.
Yes, Sphynx are velcro and will eat half their weight in food per day if you let them! Mine eat almost a quarter pound of meat for each meal, three times a day.
As for treats -- it can vary. They're all a little different. Mine love these dental treats, and various dry meat treats.
As for the washing... again, sounds very individual. Max never grooms me while Min always like to press herself into my face and neck.
Astrid does that lol she also likes doing it at three in the morning as she sits on my neck.
My girl is on royal canin too, calorie control. She eats greenies for treats. Miss picky doesn't like any other treats. If the food works for your baby, no point changing it atleast in my opinion.
@Mykel Welcome to you and Aix! It doesn't take long for them to completely steal your heart away! Our Neboo used to do that as well...we called it her sandpaper kisses.:cat::kiss:
