I would see a specialist. Probably you need an internal medicine vet. A regular vet sees a million pets for wellness checks, vaccines, etc. For real issues, they don't have near the experience that the specialists do who deal with issues all day every day.

Yes they x-rayed his body in january, but they did not see anything abnormal.

Varg seems better today. He has not leaked once or even been in the litterbox since i got home from work;) he is drinking and eating alot! Maybe the medication is working?!

He is actually really playfull and looks happy, something he has not been in weeks:) fingers crossed(y)

Hello guys, thought I’d give you a wee update on Binky! So the vet just called to inform me that Binky has got the all clear in her poop test which is a huge relief but she still has corona virus! The vet said just keep sterlising everything for Binky and be sure she avoids stress.

Binky has been good for months but for the last few days she’s had loose poops so she’s on pro-kolin for a few days to see if it helps if not she’ll go back to the vet and go on antibiotics for 7 days.

The specialist stated she has to avoid stress as corona virus can mutate to FIP through stress or other infections. The issue is Binky has to get spayed as it’s been delayed to long already due to ill health. The specialist said this is my call as she experiences stress on heat and she will experience stress getting surgery! So I have decided once her poops are better the vet will check her over and she will get spayed. Has any of you guys got experience of this? I have read so much on corona virus and seems to be that most cats can live with it with regular check ups at the vet and being assertive when the kitty’s behaviour changes. Would love to hear any of your knowledge or experience on this. Xxx

@Staceyxxx My both boys do have the coronavirus, just like Binky and 70-80% of all cats!
It's indeed true the coronavirus can be transformed into FIP by stress. But it's impossible to always avoid stress. As you say neutering causes stress just like being in heat. I think the neutering will cause less stress
And please remember most of the time they can deal woth stress without getting FIP. My both boys are neutered, I added a girl, I renovate my bathroom and kitchen and there are noises from outside like on New Years Eve. All causes stress but you can't avoid it.

Hugs for you!

@Staceyxxx , continued positive vibes for Binky!
So glad @Toa and Ross could share and help give peace of mind !

Head smooches and hugs!
Keep us updated often !
Is the Pro kolin prescription?
I have not heard of it
Let us know if it is effective

Remember too to discuss with her vet NO Ketamine anesthesia.
Many vets use a gas inhalant anesthesia like Isoflurane or similar .
I had a kitty with heart issues etc . she did fine with the ISO (Isoflurane ) for her spay surgery .

When I transport in a crate , to lessen stress, I cover three sides of the crate with a towel -
Makes a comfy little cave -

also ask the vet what the set up is for the recovery cage after surgery ?warm blanket etc?
And pain meds ?
My vet did not send my girl home woth a cone
It may have added stress - so we monitored amd she did fine with no cone

Head smooches to Binky and a big hug to you !

Thanks so much for all your advice! Pro-kolin is a probiotic formulation containing probiotics and prebiotic to help soothe the tummy! Don’t think u need a prescription, I seen You can buy it online!

Yeah I invested in a new carrier as we always visit the vet best descrption is it looks like a large cookie haha it’s a hard case carrier bag well trendy!

Yeah I remembered no ketamine she said she has put this in her notes!

Oh Bless i will need to ask bout pain meds n recovery cage opps! she mentioned a cone but I said I didn’t want her to have one I will give her a jumper for her, Binky hates clothes she’s a real nudie ha! but it’s better than a cone!

Thanks so much yoda mum u lr a founder of knowledge! Xx

So wee Binky had to go to the vet yesterday she has watery diaherria and wasn’t eating properly for a few days, so she had 3 injections, on antibiotics tabs and has medicated syrup to help her with her appetite. Due to this, the vet thinks the poop test may have been inaccurate and showed a negative positive TF result. my god I was a bit confused about that however if her diaherria doesn’t clear up its back to taking another poop and blood sample and then waiting to see the result of that to ensure we have got shot of it! If not back on the medication for TF and begin the whole process again.

Financially I can handle it at the moment, due to the insurance company refusing to pay out anything diaherria related! but emotionally it’s hard the thought of my wee kitty in pain just makes me so sad the decline in her little feisty personality and antics of being a diva has taken a nose dive to her sleeping a lot and wanting snuggles.

Thanks for all your support and knowledge I really do appreciate it. Lovs Xxx

@Staceyxxx , awhhh Binky ! We are sending a lair full of healing vibes your way!
And big hugs to your mum!

Will be watching closely for updates

I can't recall if she is on a raw diet ?
Did the vet mention if you can try to give a little 100% pure pumpkin in the can for poo issues?
( have to check ingredients label to make sure it's not pie filling with spices)

in the past my vet has prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole )
Thst helped slot with poo issues

Did the vet give you a pill popper ? Amd Or plunger for any liquid meds
They were very helpful with constant piloting meds here for my boy

So sad about the insurance company! I would call and ask to speak with a supervisor

Big hugs to you and head smooches to sweet Binky
I know she has the best of love and care

Will be thinking of you and Binky with well wishes !
Please keep us updated often!

Bless thanks so much, am determined to get her healthy but some days you just feel helpless! She isn’t on raw, I Initially was going to give Binky raw but due to all her issues since I got her the vet suggested just sticking with dry food, and I give her boiled white fish and turkey as a treat as she can’t have anything outside that as it can set off the poops! She will be moving on to adult now so I will have to see what one is best with a high meat content or when she’s better maybe look at giving her raw again! Or maybe a mix could work, am not sure!

Yeah I have a plunger for liquid, and a pill poper she has more meds than my old 90 year old grandpa ha.!

Ah the insurance was a nightmare we spoke to managers and the vet spoke with them all because Binky had the poops when we first got her and we declared that thay said they won’t cover n the vets professional opinion is she has had all these problems since birth, the breeder isn’t interested n what’s worse it’s my dads friend so that’s caused friction but my vet was that concerned about the other kittens she contacted her vet as she stay in England!

I just work a extra shift to cover her bills each month, as this wee kitty is honestly my heart!

Thanks so much for ur support! Xxx

Hi

I’m from Norway, but no many has Sphynx cat’s here so i became a member of this forum:)

Are there any people here who have experience with Tritrichomonas fetus? I have two Sphynx, one female of almost 1 1/2, and one male of 7 months. My youngest has been sick since I got him. We found out he had Giardiasis and Corona virus, then we found out that he has Tritrichomonas fetus. He has not been in contact with any other cats than my oldest cat, Chloe, so he has most likely had this from the breeder. We are now on round 2 with treatment with Ronidazole (we have been lucky that it was easily available in Norway, otherwise it must be imported) and may be a round 3 if he does not get rid of it. The kitten and i have been living with my mother-in-law since he started the medicine to not infect his sister, who have been tested and her test’s were negative. And that he will not be infected again by his surroundings. I sincerely hope to get rid of this parasite soon, is so tiring both for us and the kitten with constant diarrhea and leakage. He is fine when he’s on the medicine, but i know as soon as we finish with the treatment it takes a week and then the diarrhea and leaking start’s again! The cats are my world so i do not want to give up. Does anyone have experience with this parasite? Did you get rid of the parasite? How long did you have to treat with Ronidazole and how many rounds? Anyone who has not got rid of it, and how did it go? Hope someone who has the experiences want to share their story(y)View attachment 83267 View attachment 83268
Hi. I'm dealing with it now. My 17 month old male has been off ronidazole for 2 months now. I went away for 5 days, and the stress of me being gone caused him to relapse! Prior to the relapse, he as doing fine on Forti-Flora, a pro-biotic and an 1/8 of a teaspoon of Psyllium Fiber once a day. Unfortunately, the ronidazole did not totally eradicate the parasite, but the TF was manageable. Hope your babies are well.
