She used to have heat every 2 months, last heat was 3 months ago, no vocal symptoms, took her to vet - vet says she was in heat. No symptoms since. I worry for her health.
Appreciate any information/ advice.

I would recommend a vet visit you don’t want her to have a pyometra or an infection in the uterus. Is she possibly pregnant?

Is there a reason you are not spaying? Pyometra is a concern if not going into heat now etc, Should I spay or neuter my sphynx cat?

Just knowing cats live longer being “fixed” is enough for me. @Precious is there a chance she is accidentally pregnant?
Hi! No , she can’t be pregnant. I did take her to vet when she had no vocal and behavioural symptoms of heat on time - that was beginning of June. I was afraid of pyometra. Vet said she was actually in heat. Now she should’ve symptoms of heat around end of first week of August. She didn’t.
I didn’t spay her because I wanted to have kittens one time but I can’t find healthy male to mate.
I am also afraid to operate with vet I don’t know - my usual vet is on med leave for a year.

@Precious , thank ypu for the update

please keep in mind sphynx are prone to HCM heart issues. Dames/Sires should be regulary HCM scanned especially if going to breed her. Breeding a litter can be expensive with Heart Echo gram at a cat cartidiolist ( sometimes nearing 1k ) along with risks of extra expenses like emergency c-sections, etc.

Alot of people would like to have one litter of their own. yes it seems cute to think of having little ones. But, you must do it responsibly for the betterment of the breed.

sharing, My heart was crushed when my first sphynx came from a closest breeder, no HCM scanning and other things that go into being a responsible breeder. The sire must have HCM scan history etc too.

My girl suffered several horrific saddle thrombosis embolisms and gained her wings at barely 2 yrs old.
**sharing she had a bad heart at 8 mos old. My vet successfully spayed her at 9 mos old using isoflurane and recovered quickly .
I have my pets charts marked NO Ketamine anesthesia.

as mentioned ** intact females are at risk for life threatening pyometra. The surgery is very expensive and no guarantee of survival. Pyometra is real. My neighs furbaby went thru it and luckily survived.

You can talk with your vet about anesthesia.

Please read this helpful thread.

please keep us updated, all paws are family. hugs n head smooches.
