Update on dilemma and name + another question!

For those who read some of my other posts, my baby boy was a nameless naked kitty for almost two months after we brought him home, and I was also debating whether or not to get him a friend.

So update.. We finally decided to name our boy Jakhari. I wanted something Egyptian and the boyfriend and I kept arguing over names, and finally both agreed on this one! I love it and it feels nice to finally call the kitty by ONE name lol.

I also wanted to thank everyone who responded to my dilemma post about getting another sphynx. It didn’t take us long to decide that we DEFINITELY needed another baby, and why were we ever thinking twice about it!? So I called my breeder and we reserved the little girl with the cow spots!

I’ve been back to see her twice since we decided to take her, and every time we visit I just get more and more anxious to bring her home to Jakhari. We should be able to bring her home in about a month, and hopefully we will have a name picked out for her before she gets here!

I am a little nervous about her and Jakhari not getting along.. I’ve taken some advice from the forum and bought a baby blanket which I bring when we see her. I wrap her up in it and let her roll around over it, then bring it home for Jakhari. He sniffs the heck out of the blanket and even licks it.

Does anyone have any experience when it comes to introducing a kitten to a kitten AND they both have the same father? Will any of these factors somehow make this introduction phase any easier I wonder??

I'm glad that your baby finally has a name and I like the choice! I like unique names Also, I'm super excited that you decided to get another! That is a fantastic choice and they will definitely keep each other busy. As for having the same dad, that shouldnt cause any problems unless you breed, but I dont think you plan to. And as for meeting each other, since they are kittens, usually they get along really fast and have no problems. Just keep them separated for a bit and then let them check each other out slowly. I wouldnt be worried though, most kittens have wonderful outcomes when it comes to meeting a friend.

Love the name. How unique. Can't wait to see what you name your baby girl. I didn't have any trouble introducing my two. I kept them apart for maybe a day. They liked each other right away. They have been snuggle buddies ever since. Happy your getting another baby. Double the trouble, double the fun.

Congrats on finally choosing a name for your boy and another congrats on getting a cowgirl soon. I think cow babies are so cute.

I had no problem bringing home Grayson to Liam. I also had absolutely no problem bringing home Simon to Liam and Grayson. The three of them are from the same queen and stud cats.

I live in another state from my breeder, so I couldn't visit and bring a blanket, etc. like you have been doing (which is a wonderful idea). What I did do though was take a stuffed animal type of toy with me and I had the breeder rub it all over the mother cat and most especially on her cheeks (glands). This way the new kitten still had "mom's scent" with him to travel with me back to NY, and when I got home, my other boy(s) had a familiar smell as well! I am convinced this worked because I never had one ounce of a problem. Everyone cuddled and groomed each other from the moment they were all together. Not a hiss or a spit, etc.

It is great when you choose a name and a unique one. I know for myself I did not want anyone on the forum to have my kiddos names I got my male first then a female a month and half later. Well she is a lover very tiny we could see how much he grew in that time. They play together and sleep and cuddle together. They are best friends. There was zero adjustment time and I have other fur kitties she was just that sweet purring all the time they accepted her right away. But then again my Apollo is a bratt and things we do everything for him so he was like yippe something for me. It will be fine getting them close together. Best of luck!!

Susi, it is pronounced Juh-car-ree and thanks I'm really excited to get the little cow girl! She is a wild one.. Jakhari is soo hyper and the new little girl is the wildest one in her litter. They are going to be a good match - my little trouble-making duo! I can't wait for her to come home!
