After this is all over, it's going to cost a fortune to change his wardrobe appropriate for "Louisa" instead of Luigi... Hahaha. Maybe there is a poor little boy Sphynx somewhere that can use all of "Louisa's" old boy clothes. Lol I'm just kidding.
They seem quite optimistic about the prognosis, but as any procedure goes there's a huge risk involved. It seems to be a quite complex surgery that is only performed by vets with a great deal of feline urological experience. Luigis vet whom I implicitly trust isn't even doing the surgery--a feline urologist is coming in his office to do it. As for quality of life after surgery.. It seems to be a common occurrence for these cats to develop chronic urinary Tract infections. Which are easy to treat when detected early.
I have some one who works for me who had the procedure done on their male cat as well and everything went great...positive thoughts Luigi's will go as well. Oh and once a Luigi always a Luigi ...lol please keep the updates coming. Lair Prayers are sent!
Praying for the best for your boy! Can't imagine all you've been going through ! Hopefully this fixes his problem and he can finally get on the road to recovery!
I'm so sorry for you baby. Working in a vet hospital, I see blocked cats so often it's sad. Get on royal canin (or purina, or hills) urinary food, and stay on it forever.
Hope your little mans feeling better soon, thinking of you two!
Look at that handsome boy...boy is he loved! So happy to see he is home. Hope you are home this weekend to cuddle. I think you need it as much as he does. Happy healing Luigi....welcome home!!!!!!
Oh Grandparents are usually great sitters. They spoil, are over protective and worry warts! So just know your Luigi is in good hands. You have a couple of nights to snuggle up with him. You might want to wear an old T-shirt the next couple of nights and leave that for him to snuggle with while you are gone.
I have a silly question that I just thought of and never asked the vet but I'm sure everyone here will know a better answer.
Since I am now feeding him only wet food (royal canin urinary SO) and no dry.
What is the right amount of food to feed him? I've always given him roughly 5-6 ounces of wet food usually in the morning or split between morning and evening and he would graze dry food all day.
How much wet food should satisfy him daily, and should it be fed at various times?
I'm glad he's home and healing! Get well sweet boy! Not sure about amounts to feed, I split a bigger can twice a day between 3 cats but they have dry out all the time. Hope you heal well too from, what I'm sure was an enormous vet bill! Ugh
