I am in the same situation...I will also like to know! I am in the search of a Vet.(Mickey needs his rabies shot)
Hairlesslove, what part of Florida are you in?
If you're looking for a vet, I would recommend first seeing if you have any sphynx breeders in your area. If you do, call them and see what vet they use. Then you can be sure you're using a vet that has a lot of experience with the breed. If you don't have a breeder nearby, there are several websites were you can read reviews of local veterinarians. Start with one that has good reviews and then call them to see if they have had any sphynx patients.
I can't say I would be comfortable with a vet who had never treated -or even seen in person- a sphynx before. You shouldn't have to educate your vet, it should be the other way around!
Duh right?!! That didnt even pass my mind! I will call my breeder tomorrow I am sure her vet is near by, We live only 15 minutes away!...I am in West Palm Beach,Florida!-THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH BROOKE!♥
Also you have to really be happy with your vet! You have to like and trust him or her!
Over the course of years with all my pets I am on my 4th vet and the one I have now I can't say enough great thimgs about and I trust him 100%
My vet has never even seen a sphynx cat in person...... I told her about their body temp & all the ways they r diff about cats. I wanted to ask u guys if there is anything they should do diff than treating a regular cat????
One of the other vets I used to use always wanted to test for ear mites everytime I went, she insisted I was wrong? Well we do not use her anymore
I do have the kittens tested their first visit to the vet just so the new owners have something saying it was done so when they go to the vet they choose they have the info and do not have to test.
