I joined in July (I think?) shortly after Hairrisyn moved in and have been MIA after my first few posts because my husband was getting ready to deploy and I was following him around and crying...just kidding! I have cried but I think we had one of the best goodbyes possible. I made every effort to feel like I was preparing to "send him off" as opposed to him being taken from me and that seemed to make a world of difference. If people can be pregnant for 9 months, I can live without physically having a husband for 9 months...I know that's not a real comparison but for some reason that time frame linked in my brain so I'll go with it.

We decided that after a year of marriage and the inevitability of my solitude that would be doable...He's left for brief stints (the longest of those being a month) prior and not coming home to anything...alive...was a little sad. For whatever reason, I think I crave life...I'm not afraid of being alone, I like my own company and always agree with what I want to do, but I really value interdependence. No man is an island.

I decided on a cat and was then told that my husband is allergic to cat hair (or there's something about it that makes his reaction unbearable). To make him prove this "allergy", I schedule meetings with several friends that had cats and eventually I believed him. But we gradually realized that all cats didn't trigger the puffy eyed, scratchy throat response...just cats with LOTS of hair...enter the Sphynx.

Over the last month and a half, Hairrisyn or Hairri Princess...has become an enormous source of love wrapped up in a tiny body (she's a little over a year old and only 5.5 lbs). She's come out of her shell and is the most talkative, energetic, and intuitive cat I've ever met. We were meant to be together. I'm also so happy that my connection with her has led me to such a supportive community.

I'm adding some new pictures and I'm looking forward to being active in the forum!

So glad all is going well for you despite the hardship of sending your husband off.
Sounds like you've got quite the little love bug to keep you company.
They really are amazing kitties!!

Welcome back :) I can relate I work nights and my partner works days so it's usually a quick hello or goodbye as we pass each other, we do get Sunday nights together tho, although he's not my husband I've been with him for 8 years and Luna completes us, don't know what we would do without the little fuzz ball :) amazing how something so little can bring so much happiness

Thank you all!!! It's a weird feeling to all of a sudden be denied access to your husband. This is not his first deployment, but it is mine, and I'm told to be thankful that it's only 9 months (his last was 13). I'm a little nervous (not really my nature) about his safety because the nature of his "job" puts him in remote places that don't provide incredible communication options. It's been about a week since I've heard from him, but I'm hopeful that that part will change. No news is good news!!!

Hairri misses her dad but is taking advantage of the extra space on his side of the bed so I think she'll weather the storm just fine.

Welcome back DonnA and Hairri!! So happy for you that she is keeping you company while your hubby is away. Your reasoning makes sense and why not try to see things in the best possible light.
I hope Hairri appreciates that special side of the bed :Wink2:

Welcome back! Thank you for both for your sacrifices. I was an Army wife for ten years and know all too well about kissing your man goodbye. It's not an easy life. Hairri will be a good companion and I'm sure she will help ease the pain of your seperation.
Much love,
Susi and the gang
