So this is the latest update on Lucifer. He was back to not eating this morning so back to the vet he went. He is hydrated, so that's good but he has the beginnings of an Upper respiratory infection. Plus he has not gone potty. He will be spending the afternoon at the vet because they're going to give him a shot for the infection and joy of joys, an enema to flush him out. I have a feeling he is going to live up to his name yet again. Poor guy.

Aww man. Enema. The dreaded word. Maybe ask if they can sedate him a little before?

Lucifer is home, he still won't eat but our vet is hopeful that once the antibiotic kicks in completely, that will change. For now, he is being syringe fed (my wife is a sainted woman) and when she wrapped him in his blanket to feed him earlier, he protested being woken up, loudly! He was a bit perkier, but now is sacked out in his bed doing his best imitation of a breadloaf under his blanket. He was given fluids via IV to help keep him hydrated as well. Thanks for the prayers and healing vibes. :)

He's certainly perked up today. He's wandering around the house, using his scratching post and both eyes are open. He's got lots more energy. He still won't eat, so it's baby food with a syringe still. He woke me up with purrs and snuggles this morning so he's a far cry better than he was. We're getting there and I'm hopeful.

And back to the vet we went for another round of anti-emetics. Blood panel tomorrow morning at 8 am. There's also the possibility of exploratory surgery for a possible blockage that isn't showing up on x-rays.

I remember trying to give anti-nausea liquid to my previous kitty that had fatty liver... NoWay! But, mix it with a tablespoon of puréed beef baby food... she ate it as fas as her little tongue could lick! After a few minutes, it kicked in and she started asking for her regular kitty food. (whew!) Not the same problem, but I do thank goodness for limited-ingredient baby food! Best of luck with your little darling boy!

The rough part is that he won't take any food what so ever. Sometimes @Liliths Dad has to hold him so I can pry his mouth open to get the syringe in. I'm going to ask about the Nutrical supplement that @Yoda mom mentioned at tomorrow mornings appointment. Luckily we got approved for CareCredit this evening, so if we do have to do exploratory surgery, we can afford it now.

It has been a very worrisome and stressful 4 days, but I am hopeful he will pull through given the signs of life he's showing. Last night he licked his sisters wet food (I think out of spite, because she refused to eat it after that). And earlier I chased him around with a tiny bit of food that he licked. He also 'helped' with laundry (burrowing in for warmth) and got in a fight with the shirt I'm wearing. Little signs give me a lot of hope.

***just remembered, we sometimes encouraged our sick kitties to eat with some warmed chicken/beef broth (very low or no salt). Warmed only enough to put off a (hopefully enticing) smell. Also, we fed them in a quiet room alone, with the doors closed to keep out other four-leggers. Check with your vet to see if that might be an option?

I, too, am sending healing vibes. Pawsitive thoughts your way. Lucifer has a great home and super Sphynx Parents!

Nutrical is very helpful. I always have that on hand just in case. But you're keeping in touch with the vet too, so that's awesome.

Did the vet do x-rays?

Again, sending hugs.

X-rays were done, but no blockages showed. So he either doesn't have one or it's not showing on x-ray. We're still treating his ear infections, too.

As for feeding, we've tried the quiet room, baby foods of different types and brands, kitten milk. So far the syringe is what keeping him nourished. We'll do what ever it takes. Even if I have to take him to classes with me next week to feed him every two hours. :)

What a blessed baby to have you already making a plan to nourish him. If it becomes too overwhelming, your vets/techs might be a back up plan. Have seen some drop babies off during the day and pick up on their home for the night shift.

Good news no obvious blockage
Amd his helping with laundry , got in a fight with your shirt ,and licking sis' wet food are good signs
Positive vibes for to,or rows follow up

Hoes his upper respiratory infection? Progress?
What meds is he on?
Some antibiotics work better than others for sphynx

Glad for thr care credit approval- I have it too - Jair stay on top of it like clock work!
I have never paid a dime of interest - lol using it again to,or row with my dog having seizures

A little care credit tip -
I have had bills at checkout for $189
So I add a bottle of Hylyt shampoo or something else sit to make it over $200
Amd get the 6 mos promo :)

I also learned over $200 is 6 mos promo
Over that , it is up to the vet how long they want to offer promo
My vet without asking gave me $18 mos on a $400 bill without asking

Pm me if you have any CC questions

Also , my vet had me take a pic of the X-rays with my cell phone so I had it in case in eneded to go to an after hours clinic with Toby .

My vet will also call in to the best prices offered for meds - she checks goodrx
Amd I check my Walgreems family prescription card thst can be used for pets.

Just wanted to share

It's not uncommon for new kitties to get URI- the meds should kick in and see improvement
