It has been a day of ups and downs. I have kept "it together" very well and after a long day, able to finally share.
1. I came home last night to find Loki is really failing. Legs are very wobbly and he has slowed down greatly since I was gone. It has been 6 months since diagnosed with kidney disease and vet said
2 weeks -2 years. So tomorrow we are taking him for blood work to confirm our assumptions...the clock is ticking. His eyes are bright and his heart is big. Eating drinking etc, but body failing.
2. Jouët had an episode again and snapped out as usual (idiopathic epilepsy is what has been diagnosed) but always hard to watch. No thrashing and not violent but with niece here, she had lots of questions. Thankfully it was an educational moment to speak about it and how people and animals can be affected. She was very attentive and first to run for a treat to give her when she snapped out of it. She stiffens and zones out and then perfectly fine. I grabbed her before she fell off the high benches we have.
3. We bought my niece a balloon for Valentine's Day and I locked it in the closet last night. Hubby went in the closet to grab his tennis racquet and did not make sure the string was closed back in. Azura jumped on the door cat climber and pulled the string through and ate it. My niece caught her but too late. We called the vet and he said add a tablespoon of olive oil to wet food and now we wait....said 2-4 days it will hopefully pass. Please send a Lair Prayer she just passes it. I know it was an accident but I am having a hard time. I am so careful and over the top aware of our babies it just is a hard pill to swallow. The good part is we are aware she ate it...many never know so the first sign of issues we will know what we might be dealing with. Our vet assured me to remain calm and that most pass pass it. Fingers crossed. I will be on poop watch for days.
Right now all 4 babies are sitting down here in the living room happy and staying warm on this very cold night.
