What's Happening?

Tonight I turned on my Kindle Fire to get my Lair fix and...I was logged OFF my favorite site! I had to log in 3 times in a row, because each time I was logged off again immediately. Now I'm allowed to stay on the site for about 5-10 minutes before I am involuntarily logged off. I've tried to be a good Sphynx mommy (and Bob is an excellent Sphynx daddy and artist) and I don't think we have broken any rules...Of course, Cleopatra is a rather naughty almost 2-year old, but she hasn't sent any scorpions to anyone (yet) . So, please can anyone tell me what's happening? I will be most grateful.

I'm logged in via my laptop and I've been logged out against my will twice now!!!
And of course it happened when I was typing long, indepth replies to posts and *poof* cannot post as you're not logged in and the lair must be hungry because it ate both of my posts!!!

I'm glad I'm not going crazy and that someone else is going through this too! But Elvira would classify being logged out against our wills as a total suck!!!

Thanks Sara. It has been frustrating, but I'm glad it's not because I may have forgotten to use deoderant this morning (if anyone asks, I'm claiming the 5th Amendment ) or something equally weird...

The Lair acts funny for me sometimes too. Sometimes I'll go to look at pictures and I'll get a message that I'm not allowed to see it but this only lasts so long before everything's working again. It's still weird but no I don't think it's because you skipped deodorant. :Laugh:

Do you always use the Kindle when on Sphynxlair? I have never used it and do not know what browser it uses. Do you have a regular desktop or laptop to see if thats it?

Hmmm,
You should always copy a long post just in case. It shouldn't log you off though. It may be an "idle" setting perhaps on the back end. I have not changed anything though. I will look into it.

I did some quick investigating, will look into it further, one thing I did find is you need to have cookies on:

Internet Explorer -Tools > Options > Security.

The make sure 'Remember all passwords' is checked.


Safari- Preference > Privacy > Block Cookies > Never

Also when logging in - always check the "remember me" box.

Be sure to delete all cookies first, go the the site, login and see if that helps as well. Actually, clear browser cache and delete cookies and start fresh.

There a small lptop wihich uses Win 7 and Firefox as the browser, but the Kindle Fire which uses Amazon's Whisper net never had problems with the site before.

I had that problem from my laptop this morning. I logged in, it told me thanks for logging in, then went right to the first screen with the blank log in info and the big red box telling us to join the site or log in and I couldn't see photos. However, down at the bottom where it shows who's logged in, my name was there. I tried logging in a couple of times then I gave up until later in the day.

Just had this issue on my iPad. I went in and reset all cookies, like Admin's above post stated to try. Worked!

Have you had the problem as well Rwalkerg? Well I changed the navbar template (bunch of code stuff) a week or so ago, I wonder if this effected anything, I have 3 versions of it, I just paste the new one in, please update me on if it changes. if not I will go to the next one. It's a good place to start.

When you posted this, Bob was on with his laptop. He says he had no problems with either the laptop or his HTC Ego phone. I just logged in with my kindle (my preferred method of Lair surfing) and, so far, no problems--fingers crossed! It started last night around 8 pm PST.

With just the kindle? Also, if it just started the night before, there were surely no changes to the site. The last time I did anything was at least a week ago. And it is not global, multiple people - strange.

I have had no problems with Safari or Firefox or the iPad as of this morning. I will have Heather try my daughters Kindle this morning.

I know this isn't solving the problem by any means, buy it might allow you to enjoy the site while the issue is being figured out: Tapatalk. I use it on my phone and my Kindle. There are a few limitations, but overall I am very pleased with it.

Could it be a setting in your kindle where it logs you out for no activity?

I just started tapatalk and I am now staying on. Apparently the provoke has to do with an "update" on the Kindle system.

Ok, good. Tapatalk works well with the site, especially on small devices. My daughters Kindle Fire worked well for us though. I'm not sure if she has updated the software though.
