Tom Sawyer has a cute habit. He does this quite often but it's hard to get on film. I managed to get a few seconds of him performing this "maneuver" at the beginning of this video. The breeder saw the video and said that Tom Sawyer's father does the same exact thing. Must be in the genes.

Aww, so cute. At the beginning it looks like he is trying to get something off of his face or nose- does he do this frequently?

He does this whenever we play. I think it's his way of letting me know he wants to play. I think it's his way of getting my attention.

And actually the video is kind of misleading. He's actually got his paws in front of his face. He doesn't look like he does when he licks his paws and rubs his face like in cleaning.

It's possible! I have one that will run to a rug when he wants to play, and when I want him to play, I'll ask him to "show me his rug" and he goes to the carpet to play, so could be his way of indicating to you he is raring to go!

He's sure a cutie! Great to see you back!

I had a dachshund once that did exactly the same thing when he was begging for food, sitting on his bum, and if I ignored him he would just start doing it faster until I gave him something to eat.

Tom Sawyer is sooooo cute, I think he does that because he is happy and content and trying to communicate that to you.

Too sweet! My Fuzzy plays with Q-tips and the automatic waterer. I have talked to my breeder and it is somthing both his mother and grandmother have done for years.

My Samoyed Mochi does the same thing. I have a video of it somewhere if you'd like to compare. He usually does it to demand more of the same thing I was doing before I stopped the action, usually petting. He uses it as a last resort if none of his other tricks work. It's too cute to ignore if he does it, after all...
