Will not eat it.

I've got my pair on Natural Instinct raw food. Milo is eating it (until this evenings meal - he left that). We've only been feeding it since the 7th.

Pixie, however, will not even try it. I've tried minute amounts mixed in with wet food. She picks around it. I've tried covering it in the juice from tuna (which she loves) and she just licks it. What else can I try?

my Older Cat is picky and will only eat the Beef and Chicken if its ground up.
The little one will eat anything... big chunks small chunks and ground..
is it Medaillions your feeding? Or ground ? Sprinkle cheese on it ?

Also, when I weight out how much Milo should eat in 1 meal, should I lift it and bin in when he walks away? Or just leave it out until he eats it?

ground up is not medallions. Medallions are one piece of meat.
Hm... try to sprinkle cheese on it. I dont have troubles feeding mine Raw, they eat it. The older one not as much, but I think it has to do with his Teeth. He has bad teeth, thats how i got him.

You just started on the 7th, maybe try to feed 2/3 can and 1/3 raw mixed .. so more can and after 5 days half / half .... and after 5 days 1/3 can and 2/3 raw ... just to make the transition easier for his belly ??

they do say, never leave Raw out for more then 30 min after he walks away ... ditch it , or put it right back in the fridge after him eating

Milo is eating his fine - other than tonights evening meal. It's Pixie I'm having the issues with surprisingly! She is a diva though so I shouldn't have expected anything less

i had trouble getting Starla to eat it so I crumble up a freeze dried treat on top of the raw. also I recently started mixing water & a little teeny bit of olive oil in because Stara had really hard poopy. I mix less water in Bentleys but Starla really loves it now, the more watery the better for her. Maybe you can try that

Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on it.
Continue feeding her canned food and place a teaspoon of the raw next to it. Do this for a while and she may start eating it. If she does reduce the canned and up the raw slowly over time.
Depening on how often you feed, i would give 2-3 oz at a time.

Lift it when he walks away and put it in the refrigerator to serve again later. I was just about ready to suggest you add water and a little salmon oil to it and make it seem more like canned food. Try the parmesan, but don't let her go hungry. That is extremely dangerous.

Susi, no worries there; she never goes hungry. She wouldn't let me let her go hungry haha I'd be deafened by the meows!

My little guy Henry had a hard time transitioning to raw when I brought him home. For a couple of weeks he at 1/2 raw and 1/2 canned food mixed together. It took about 1 month longer before I was able to completely phase out the canned food (which I did gradually).

Milo is now not eating it After 2 days of wolfing it down I'm really not sure what to do with him... it's 2 different stories with him and Pixie. I can mix in pouches with Pixie... Milo's IBS won't allow me to do that for him... Will it? It's what he was on before diagnosis... when he was bad.

I've tried tuna juice in Milo's... it gets him licking it and eating the odd bit that happens to get into his mouth. Tonight, I tried cheese on top. He just ate the cheese..

what kind of "canned" food are you guys serving with it.... any cat food (upper end/natural) or is it a RAW based? in case we have issues I am going to have to run to the PET Club and get something for sure..hahahaha

I have 3 different kinds here. I've tried 2 and will be trying the 3rd soon. I just gave him his breakfast... I put out the raw, mixed it with a little water so it was more wet food like in consistency (I've been doing this anyway), mixed in a pouch and warmed it up (sat the bowl in warm water) and he's currently eating.

I transitioned Mr. B. to raw and at first he wolfed it down and I thought "oh wow that was easy!" However, for the next 2 weeks it was suddenly a struggle to get him to eat. He'd sniff and walk away. I work 12 hour shifts and couldn't wait all morning for him to eat. I had to improvise like you are doing. I mixed with natures variety canned, water, Parmesan cheese, etc. Some days he ate right away and sometimes it took 15 min for him to be interested. I also switched to Duck and he took to it faster. After about 3 weeks it was all raw and I learned his pattern. He's sniff, walk away, eat a bit, walk away, then eat the rest within 30-40 min.

I wrote a post about this last month with the same problems and everyone's advice helped! Someone told me he'd start to learn that he had 30 minutes to eat. And he has!!

Don't get discouraged. I thought it was a lost cause at first but now he's transitioned. Good luck!

For Henry, I mixed in the canned food he was fed at the breeders - Royal Canin Kitten. Not a raw food, but a high quality wet. For Winston I used nature's variety canned food as he had had it before and seemed to like it, and I initially fed him nature's variety raw.

Hope Milo and Pixie are taking to the food a bit better and that mixing in a pouch for Milo helped! For Winnie, even though it wasn't straight raw immediately, his poos and IBS symptoms were much improved even when mixing the two types.

Feed him the canned and put a small amount of raw next to it. Keep doing this he may eventually eat it and then increase the raw and decrease the canned slowly over time.

what flavor of raw are you feeding? The best ones to try are chicken, turkey and rabbit. Many cats wont eat beef or pork and duck is fattier than they are used to.

He's back at the vet tomorrow (follow up after he was placed on a higher steroid dose)
