Good luck to both of you! I hope it works out for you guys...if it doesn't, I have plenty of jobs available in upstate NY...anyone? Anyone? ANY? We have a book called "Position control" sounds kind of star trekky to me...but I guess it just lists all of the open jobs, posted and behind the scenes...

It actually turned out to be more of an "informal information" type meeting ..
It was a little upsetting really, the first words out of his mouth were "well I'm not actually hiring"

But I heard him out and we had a nice chat, he's hoping to have another position open come the end of September (heaven help me if I'm still not working by then) so you never can tell.

Oh that's upsetting indeed. But at least you made a good impression on him so hopefully he will tell other people about you!

A friend of mine is struggling with employment. It's so infuriating! He's very talented, but the economy just isn't there. :(

I know your pain :( I got laid off from a job about 7 or so years ago, right when the economy and the housing market were in the gutters. It took me 8 months to find another job! I don't know how many I applied to...so many never even got back to me, I probably had only 6 interviews in that time frame. There was just nothing out there. It's supposed to be much better now though!

Best of luck to you both! Hopefully that guy follows through and actually contacts you if they have an open position.

Since I think I was the first to be interviewed, I'm still waiting to hear back. My aforementioned friend, though, has 4 interviews lined up, so I'm very happy for him. This happened pretty suddenly, so he's feeling a bit overwhelmed.
