Hey, sorry to hear your wee one has fallen ill! Just throwing it out there, but I buy that Hills Perscription AD by the case, it`s fantastic to have around. But, it really messes with one of my girls. No matter what, if she eats it, she will puke. So, whenever she`s feeling down and her appetite isn`t the best, I make my own concoction. I mix beginners baby food pure turkey puree (no cat has ever refused it here) with some Lysine supplement, sugar free and dye free pedialyte, and a crushed up cat multivitamin tablet.
Last year I had a cat just brought into my house from my breeding partner, and shortly after she was diagnosed with a severe advanced case of Pyometra. The only thing she could keep down was that baby food mixture, and the vet said it very well could have saved her while she was waiting to go into surgery. She wasn`t hungry because every time she ate she puked, except for the mix!

Good luck.

To what consistancy/how much pedialyte? Good to have another trick in my bag of tricks for emergencies. Thanks for sharing this.

I usually mix up just single servings, so one of the big jars of baby food, and 2 tablespoons of pedialyte. That usually keeps it at a good consistency, as I use the gel L-Lysine in it and the powder from the vitamins, it usually stays the same as the baby food was. If it gets a wee bit runny, I just crush up some kibble to gain the firmness back, but then it takes on a whole new smell, yuck!
