Aww, I certainly can understand you longing for another.

Have you tried other breeders that may have a retired naked (that isn't as old as Winston was when you got him)? Maybe you can save some of your work salary and eventually save up enough money for a kitten this time. I wish you the best.
That's kinda why I was super excited once I found this person who is supposed to have kittens Feb 13th and only wants 500 for them was gonna use income tax to buy it can't do much more rest has to go to balloon payment on my car

Why is this breeder selling the kittens so much cheaper than most or all other breeders?

She said it was because she isn't interested in making money off of them just wants to share the joy of having a Sphynx with everyone and isn't going to register them that they would only come with initial core shots and a vet check that was it idk how much it costs to register them... So I assumed without the guarantee and insurance and registration that it would reduce the cost to about that much

From my experience, an unregistered sphynx would have been no more than $200.00 less than a registered one. I never heard of half price. Have you checked this breeder out at all?

@renewedmind I really don't want to have you get your hopes up. However, usually, but not always, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Because this breed is so interesting and rare their tons of scams. Even if the kittens were really cheap the parents are more than likely not HCM scanned. There are many fabulous breeders out there who work hard to improve and develop the breed. I would be cautious of overly cheap cats as it could be a scam or a backyard breeding situation. I agree with some of the other members that perhaps a retired breeder would be a wonderful choice. Breeders take fabulous care of their cats. I know the pain of not having a sphynx. I looked for years and came across every scam out there. Being patient pulled off though because I found my beautiful girls and Batwing.

Yes o have seen many most the add said they were close to me but then once I replied they moved to a new state but this one I didn't think so because she didn't ask for a deposit and I wasn't going to pay till I went to pick up the kitten so I'm not sure how she would have scammed me and she said they had both been scanned for hcm... In fact when I told her that I was told from here I should ask for copies she said she didn't have any but would ask the lady she got her from for a copy and since then I haven't heard from her :(

@renewedmind , @nudieluvr is right. Renewedmind, when you posted the info to me above about how you found this breeder, a red flag IMMEDIATELY went up. Please be smart and be careful. Anyone can land up with a sick kitty, but this is just saying, "possible disaster" to me. Nobody on here wants to see you finally get a best friend again (a sphynx again) and then read about your heartache over a really bad experience. Good things come to those who wait. Trust me on that one, I waited 18 years to get my first sphynx!!!

@renewedmind , a little story of heart break to keep in mind with every ad out there ..
I waited 15 yrs for my first sphynx who was a surprise bday gift - I mean total surprise - I mentioned that "someday " to him and several years later he had her home waiting for me -
He said he only wanted to make me happy

I asked him where ? Who? Papers? Vet checked ? HCM scanned ? Etc
He said he needed to get a kitten for me in a few days of my bday for a surprise - an acquaintance hooked him up with what he was told "a steal" at $800 -
Yes - she was a steal - a steal that ended up stealing my heart and shattering it when she passed away at a tender age of two - riddled from day one with health issues , severe HCM and eventually succumb to blood clot embolism which she had several paralyzing terrifying painful incidents of passing blood clots -
She is my ^Yoda Cat ^ avatar picture I miss her dearly ---

*Please please be careful of your fragile heart and look for red flags - remember too these people know how much cash you have on you to pick up these kitties - see their reaction if they will meet you in a police department lobby for the purchase meet - I bet you will get alot of hang ups -

The out of state and death in family stories are often scams - like my babies cruel woman byb
Oh, she was supposedly "out of state " had a "friend " meet him in a parking lot on the side of the road for the quick transfer - Red red glaring red flags in the whole story - I called the number and she was "out of town " but would send info , papers , etc- them she ghosted amd the phone no longer working -
Eerily reminded me of your circumstances - I could be wrong but it glares Red flag.. Researching further she sold sick kitties and broke hearts - she disappeared amd her website ghosted too- I have no doubt she is somewhere breaking more hearts -

With that said , we just worry for our lair family members and share our experiences -

I also know that sphynx stars so align here - I adopted two wonderful brothers thru a member here $250 each fully vetted , neutered , vet checked , cat trees , clothes etc

I highly Recommend a retired breeder from a reputable breeder preferable thru a referral here on the lair -
She was kind enough to meet me when she was bringing her kitties HCM screening which saved a days driving-
She was a bit higher than I expected at $600 but came with HCM scan all papers vaccinated , spayed , clothes gifts , etc. and raised underfoot not caged - meticulous breeder .., she was purchased as a breeder for over 4K originally -
And retired breeders do Come available often -

^ Winston^ is watching over you and will send you the one to love ...

@renewedmind, I totally agree with @Yoda mom.
When you told us that this particular breeder isn't doing this for the money and just wanted people out there to love a sphynx kitten (or something like that you said) ... that was hogwash! First off, a good breeder of any animal should first breed that species to better the breed. To breed for temperament and good health. A lot of money goes into breeding with vet checks and testing, and showing their animals, etc. Most good breeders of any animal is lucky to break even. There is no good reason for a breeder to offer babies at half price unless something is wrong somewhere.
Perhaps move on and forget about this woman "breeder". You already lost Winston, I really don't want to see you get a baby and lose that baby before he/she is a year old. I also don't want to see you lose your money if she takes your money and runs. Be patient and wait to fill that void in your heart.

I sent you a PM before I read the rest of this thread. I also didn't know that you had also rescued one, so you might want to disregard most of that message. :) Hang in there--the right cat is out there for you, but the others are right; you do not want to fall for a scam that will cause you to lose money and not get a cat-healthy or otherwise. But do keep checking with your local cat rescues, ours here have had several Sphynxes at all ages up for adoption. They usually charge about $500.00 adoption fees. The fees are higher than most other fees, because they want people who are serious about the cats. They also screen adopters pretty carefully too.

Sometimes good "deals" do come around. Just be cautious. I hate to have a price put on my babies but I know they have to. I adopted Batwing from the local humane society for $9. That is technically a good "deal". However, paying thousands of dollars in medical care right off the bat because he was neglected, isn't a great deal. It was a much better monetary deal to adopt my retired breeder and know her background and have the medical care already done. However, I love them all.

Be patient, you will find your bestie again.
I know... Who doesn't hate waiting tho... Anyway I started a gofundme in hopes that people will donate so that I can get a kitten I kinda went over on what I have seen them listed so that it will cover transportation to go get the kitty and for the first vet visit once it gets here and first month of food and toys and whatever else may come up... More or less a cushion if you will... So we will see what that brings

Would you rather be in a rush and possibly get a bad breeder at a great price with a sickly kitten that will not only cost a fortune in vet bills, but may not make it 'til it's first birthday or be patient and do lots of research and put away a little bit of money each week until you save up for the right bestie for you?

That wasn't what I ment tho... I ment like everyone is impatient we are a society of instant gratification seekers for the most part and while I hate waiting I know ur right
