Hello Sphynx lovers! So I’m very impatiently awaiting Rockets Gotcha Day....we are looking at around 5/9 hopefully...so I’m spending my time shopping for him.
I am curious if a kitten will use a top entry litter box like this? I have dogs so I am thinking this would be a good option to keep them away from the litter but I wasn’t sure if he would be to small for something like this at first? He’s going to be around 13-14 weeks old. Any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I haven’t used a litter box like that. I had a dog who was eating the waste in Bella’s litter box, so I had to put up a gate to the room where the box was. The gate had a small opening that Bella could fit through but the dog couldn’t.

@jcline Funny you ask. I was just telling hubby we need to get a front entry box for when the baby comes in May. We have 4 of these top entry type and a litter robot. I fear the top entry will be a bit challenging for a kitten to start with. Breeders use front or totally open litter boxes for kittens as it makes it easier on a tiny kitten to find/learn. We will separate the kitten in a room and use an open one and a top entry hoping they get the gist of it over time...a few weeks later we will try to remove the front entry once we see it is using both.

You might consider the one we are using it is quiet a bit cheaper.

Thank you! That’s a great suggestion! I think that’s what we will plan to do!

@jcline, You can ask the breeder for suggestions too for sweet baby rocket
I have dogs too but don't use top entry boxes - I always worry if they get older , or spayed or neutered or any surgery how the heck they could jump up into a top entry ? Sure others can chime in .

I use the good pet stuff hidden litter box ( not using the chewable moss or vines it comes with )
Amd turn it so dogs domt go into it amd its ideas the opening from plain view

the other litter box fav is the Catit jumbo litter box

( lid flips back for easy scooping ) * I always take off the plastic door flaps of covered litter boxes.
The door flap just pops out with no tools required

Both these litter boxes are great for my tall male kitties

Woo. Hoo! may 9 is just around the corner !
Isn't retail therapy great !

Oh ps
Google search "litter box hacks "
great ideas !

@Yoda mom that’s a great idea! You could still get a front entry but just scoot it up really close to the wall. I guess that wouldn’t work if your dog was teeny, but otherwise it would keep them out!
