Here is a recipe shared by a member you can check with your vet if this would be indicated
As well as a product " nutrical "

Fattening up Brian - GLOP recipe

all paws crossed for the follow up on Monday
Following closely

@Yoda mom I was reading through these recipes that @susi794 posted, and I'm a bit confused... They contain dairy products..?

I thought that is bad for cats, and would or could cause diarrhea?

Yes, it seems the nebulizer helped! :) And I do feel he was given really great care 24/7 for the last 2 days, which is a relief when you can't do anything to help them yourself. But it's so true, we were gobsmacked by how quickly it went from noticing that something seemed off, to a basically life threatening high temperature! Really shocking...
Reading this late in the game, I’m glad Butchie is feeling better.I can only imagine what you were going thru. I hope he continues to get better and healthy. He’s such a beautiful little guy.

You are right. Cats are almost all lactose intolerant. I have been giving any of my too thin kittens the glop recipe for years and it has never failed to strengthen them up until thet start eating enough on their own. Everything I read about cats and milk says don’t do it. BUT, it works and my vet said it was ok. It was never meant to do anything but supplement and not for prolonged periods of time.
If there is even a question in your mind about it, don’t even try it.
Hugs,
Susi

Thank you! Compared to what he was like a few days ago, he is much better now. His right eye still looks almost same though still - don't know how long that might take to go away..? He's been sleeping and eating/drinking, sleep, and then more sleep!

Thank you! Yea, I figured it would be just fine as it's been tried and tested many times no doubt, but I've never stopped to really read through the ingredients before now, and was just a bit surprised..! I was thinking I could maybe make a batch and see if he'll finish that, not for long term use I understand. I was just quite shocked how quickly he lost that weight, and after just 2 days of hardly eating, you can actually see and feel it! Makes me want to give him a bit of a fat or weight buffer so to speak, in case he gets poorly again...

@Yoda mom Thanks for asking! He's doing really well - eye has cleared up totally now, and he's back to running around and playing :giggle:

He's eating very well, and it doesn't seem like he lost much weight after all, but it was strange coz I swear I couldn't feel his spine like that before  We had a check up 3 days after he was released from the hospital and it was a healthy 4.03 kg. Might just have been enough to feel different to the touch I suppose!

But it's sooooo wonderful to have my little cheeky, lovely monkey back!!! His personality has changed a bit since he was neutered as well, but I only sort of realised that a few days ago. He's more sweet tempered, less bitey, and just a bit more chilled all round! :)

Thank you! @Yoda mom :)

Well, he's been getting gradually more congested over the last month, so hubby insisted we got him back up to the vet to ask for a longer course of antibiotics, since we haven't tried that yet. So started him on 2 week course of Clavaseptin on Friday, and we hope to be able to keep him on them for at least a month, maybe 2 or 3... I don't know much about long term antibiotic use so if anyone has any input, that would be helpful. I'm thinking in terms of resistance build-up, or other side effetcs/issues... He's in his nebulizer chamber once daily now with just a saline solution, as recommended by our vet - seems to be helping loosen it up from the inside, so to speak.

The longest course of any antibiotic he's been on so far is the Doxy, and anyone that's skimmed through this thread knows how well that turned out  So, we're having a go at this and time will tell how well it works out I suppose! Fingers and paws crossed...

Did you get a proper diagnosis on what's wrong with Butchie? Sorry if you've said before, I did read the thread from the start but may have missed it.

Oh, it's fine, thanks for asking! He was diagnosed with Mycoplasma felis, a couple of months back. Had blood work and swabs done while he was under for his neutering. Doxycycline is the main antibiotic used to combat it, but it was while he was on that, that he ended up in hospital, sooooo seems it doesn't work for him..! :( Mycoplasma can ebb and wane, and it seems for us it's going to be a case of just managing it best we can for (probably) the rest of his life.

Poor Butchie, that sounds horrible. At least you know what's going on and you have options for managing it. Sending him healing hugs. X

@Cinafina checking in on Butchie
Sending head smooches and hugs

Well, he's almost through a 2 week course of Clavaseptin, and it's made a big difference in his congestion. I would say he's been a lot less snotty and sneezy on it, maybe 75-80% less. We have a check-up on Friday so we will see what the vet says about keeping him on it for a while longer. I am bit concerned about resistance build up in the nasty bacteria that have made a cosy home in his nasal passages and sinus region...:confused:

Just before we put him back on the meds, he got really blocked up and was kind of coughing, like it was stuck in his throat. He got a bit of a panic on and hubby was rubbing his back and chest to calm him, but instead he threw up all over him! That was a first (he's never thrown up before or since), so I was pleased to get him back on the antibiotics. I'll let you know what the vet says on Friday, and thanks for checking in :)
