@nudieluvr all fingerd and paws crossed for the blood results. If it's indeed a kidney issue I hope they can help him with meds.
And I love his revenge:). Better acommadations for mr Batwing please!

Also, Batwing was stated on prednisolone, a steroid, to see if it would help whatever is going on. I of course had to say yes when they said that they had an option of a compounded version that was liquid and tasted like chicken. Much more expensive than a pill but probably much more enjoyable.

@nudieluvr , head smooches Batwing
Oh my you are quite the litter tosser at the vet
Give me hell

Fwiw, my Omar lost so much weight , so many tests and all "idioapthic"
When I saw you mention the formulated meds I said oh wow
That is the same I gave to Omar ,, moved him 3600 miles skinny amd all with his meds in a cooler -
Refilled it here with a new vet . Several months later he gained all his weight back- never knew what was wrong-
He bounced back amd lived many more years of quality of life -
All paws crossed in prayer for Batwing that the medications work as well as they did for my boy

Looking forward to positve updates

Wow. Our babies can be quite the mystery. Good thing they get loving Mama's like us. I'd love answers but in the end I just want a healthy cat. It's also very hard on me because of Smaug. He started losing weight and got really sick. We didn't figure out what he needed until it was too late. I'm trying to stay positive. I just can't lose another baby. I've lost a kitty every year for the last 4 years. I just can't go through that... I have to stay pawsitive!

Thank you for sharing the news and updates. All fingers and paws crossed in this household for Batwing, who I see as a bit of a miracle kitty given all that he's endured. You have enriched his life so much and I know vice versa. HUGS.

Batwing's urinalysis came back today. It all seemed fairly normal. We still don't have an answer on what's going on. Obviously something though for him to go from 11# to 7.5# (n):( We are going to moniter him and feed him a special diet. Today was the first day. I can tell it may be a bit of a challenge going from free feeding to scheduled feedings. The vet is going to recheck his weight in 2 weeks.

So an update for you all. Batwing is not doing well. He has lost even more weight. He was on the prescription z/D dry diet for about a week. The kibbles were much smaller then he was used to eating. He couldn't eat them very well due to his lack of teeth. I would wet the kibble down for him but that wasn't very appealing to him. We are not going to try the z/D wet. I personally am not a huge fan of the food. It is very gelatin in consistency. I have to water out down quite a bit to make it a pate consistancy. He hasn't eaten very much of it. He doesn't even eat a whole can a day. Please keep praying for Batwing.

At 11:40pm Batwing started having very ragged breathing. He was alert to his surroundings but wouldn't purr or react to stimuli. We brought him in 12:10am. They took his vitals and immediately placed him on oxygen. His oxygen levels were in the 70s where they are supposed to be in the 90s. All of his vitals were way off. We went over several options on what to do going forward. It's frustrating. They wanted him to be hospitalized over the weekend however, that's not something financially feasible. They wanted to do x-rays but Batwing just had them done earlier this month. If something would be different on them it would be a fast progressing cancer that we wouldn't be able to cure anyways. We settled on doing some subq fluids and a antibiotic. I am going to start tapering off his steroid as this may be part of our problem. Now 3pm I'm exhausted Batwing is snuggled under the covers. He just finished half of a can of recovery wet food. I thought that I would have to syringe feed him but he started chowing down. I'm hoping he continues to improve.

We are back at the vet again. My normal vet is open on Saturdays. He's back on oxygen again. We are getting x-rays done. We're going to see if anything has changed since the 10th. I'm trying to stay positive.

We're back home now. The vet was able to give Batwing a diagnosis. He has pulmonary fibrosis from his years of distress on his lungs. It isn't a great prognosis. It isn't treatable. It's something we could hopefully try to manage though. He is now on an antibiotic and steroid twice a day and inhaler every 30min. As well as syringe feeding every 2 hours. This weekend is going to be critical to see if things are able to be managed.

@nudieluvr so sorry to hear about this diagnosis. My heart breaks for Batwing. After all he's been through he know has to deal with this. But I know he now has the best home there is with the most wonderful and loving mommy! Hope it's turns out to be manageable.
You can do it Batwing!!

The last 6 hours I've been giving Batwing puffs from his inhaler every 30 minutes. Now we will go to every 8 hours. Not going to sugar coat it. Things are bad. We are trying though. There was a time that Batwing was struggling so bad with his inhaler that he overexerted himself and I thought I was going to lose him. He turned blue. Now he's doing better. His breathing has remained consistent. He's working pretty hard to get oxygen in. The vet doesn't think that he's at the point of suffering yet or doing a humane euthanasia though, I know if he gets worse that will be his fate as I don't want him suffering. I'm praying and hoping that the medication will work miracles in his poor body. I've also been syringe feeding him every 2 hours. I'm hoping that giving him plenty of regular calories will help his strength. Right now I'm exhausted and my head's pounding. I've been taking little naps between the treatment. I really want to press though for him. I'll love him and support him no matter what. Even if it means letting him go.
