I know I haven't been on for such a long time. I have been a busy mom and a full time student. My husband was stationed in a different state. I am absolutely devastated and desperate, my sphynx dobby has escaped my house yesterday at 11am. My back door was open and I have no clue how long it was open because i haven't opened that door for 2 days. Not only is he the best thing that ever happened to me he truly became my therapy cat and has helped me several times when my depression got worse. I have left out my dirty laundry, left out wet food, tried to call him with a bag of treats, called all the local shelters, sent emails to local vet clinics. Walked around the neighborhood several times (then sprained my foot), now driving around as much as i can, posted on B/S/T sites on Facebook, also posted on shelter sites. If anyone sees his picture on here Please let me know!!

@deanna , oh no ... How devastating ...(((hugs))) and prayers that you are reunited with Dobby-
Are you sure he is not hiding out inside? My Omar got in the sink base and crawled in the dishwasher hose hole and was sitting in the sink base/dishwasher space..

sending all paws crossed and praying for reuniting

What city , state ?

I live in jacksonville, Arkansas . He is a very vocal boy and i would always just call out his name and he would respond. I looked everywhere in my house and he just isn't here. It's so heartbreaking to not have him with me, he is always by my side.

Sorry to hear this, not sure how safe the neighborhood is but can you leave the doors cracked open for the night just in case? Cats are very good at finding home. Also, I would knock on all my neighbors doors for at least a block or so asking them to be aware and of course have a pic of Dobby with you. I hope he shows back up sooner then later.

We have plenty of blankets, ill put one out with my laundry. I am trying my best, its just the posts i do put on Facebook have only ended in a negative note. On the base i am living on is known for people stealing pets. I have had plenty of people saying he will be taken cause he is unique. I think I'm the only one on base that has a sphynx.

I have checked with a few of my neighbors and will check other houses tomorrow! Unfortunately it isn't the safest military base so I cannot do that.

When I adopted Batman who lived on a base too, I was told he escaped a few times and was returned -
Praying he comes home and if someone finds him, does the right thing and returns him-

Please keep us updated- you have a lair full of prayers sent for Dobby's safe return
(Ps-take care of your foot too)

Bless your heart. I understand how devastated you feel. Please try to keep positive. You have to believe there are a few good honest people left, and you will hear something soon. I would cover the base with posters and offer a reward for his return. Sending prayers and thoughts for a speedy recovery of Dobby. My heart goes out to you.

My Fluffy once escaped after I had been on vacation and my mom babysat her. She LOVES LOVES LOVES LOVES my mom, and she normally wakes me up and that morning I did not hear her and got worried. I got up and could not find her at 0600. So, I got up and looked more, nothing, so I started to check around the house and outside and she still did not answer. So I went around the neighborhood with treats, etc...the whole deal. Then I panicked like everyone does, and called the shelter and there was a message to call animal cpntrol, so I called them, and their answer, call the shelter back and they had an emergency number. I called them and told them I had a feeling my sphynx got out, and they said, "What color sphynx?" and I said, grey...and they said, someone just turned one in! And then they said, "Do you have ID for her?" and I said, actually she has a photo ID, she is a therapy cat...where did you find her? She was found one street over by a lady driving to work. She was walking down the middle of the road like she belonged there. The lady opened her car and Fluffy got right in (because we go everywhere in the car). So I sped down there and picked her up even though the shelter didnt officially open until noon. They had an emergency enterance they let me in. Later, I discovered she had pushed apart a screen and made a little hole to jump out of. I think she was getting out to go look for my mom.

We took a break from taking walks outside for awhile, and in addition, we got her a collar with a nametage and ID information that she wears ALL of the time, not just to pet therapy.

Have you tried your local animal control? Is Dobby microchipped? Fluffy was not microchipped at the time.

I was very lucky and the answer the lady gave me was exactly what you said, she knew that the breed was special and that they needed taken care of. Also, she said, clearly Fluffy was not an outdoor cat, because she was walking down the middle of the road, just sauntering like she was out for an every day walk, just casually walking like she belonged there and it was her road, and then secondly, she opened the door and Fluff jumped right in (not to scare you that Dobby would jump into someone's car).

My parents cat got out once. He wasn't a sphynx, but he was still missing for a bit. My dad looked everywhere for him for days. He put out flyers, food and everything. Turns out Jack the cat was just hiding in some near by bushes. He was so freaked he just burrowed himself underneath a bush and stayed there until my dad found him - so there is hope!
