Lilo Update--

Yesterday she took her 2nd poo (IN THE HOLE) all by herself! I am so proud of her--never thought I could get so excited.

This time next week I will be switching to the green stage .

I just ordered mine today...Just what I need more stress, LOL. I hope Gryff takes to it relatively easily. I'm tired of feeling like I'm walking on the beach as I pass the bathroom where his litter box is.

The litter issue is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I have to sweep everytime prudence goes, but I just jeep reminding myself that I'll never have to deal with it again once trained. Good luck!!!

This process has been a lot easier than I thought. I figured with one bathroom it would be a huge pain but it's easy to move off and on the toilet. I would just get one of those little hand-brooms and dust pans and keep it next to the toilet as it does require a few sweeps a day...but just think, after it's all said and done no more walking through him "kitty litter beach"....EVER

It has been a much easier process for me too. I was very worried about it and yes there are some horror stories of cats pooping and peeing in your bed etc but Frank never had that problem.

In fact this weekend I'm taking out the green tray and he'll be just one white. I would hope he'll only need to be on the white for a week before I remove it and set the toilet seat down but I'm not going to rush him. He's doing great on green. He uses the bathroom even when I'm not home (which he prefers) and absolutely no accidents. Oh! and I've completely removed the litter and he's still going. He totally gets the idea that the water removes the smell as he usually turns around after he's done, checks it out and then leaves. Whereas with litter he spent a few minutes covering over his business after he was done.

One habit he has formed just in the last week is before he uses the toilet he likes to stick his paws in there and splashes around for a minute before he goes. I've tried telling him no and removing him from the water but I just don't know if I can break him of it.

So we're only 1 to 2 weeks away from being completely free!!! So happy and excited! (Just in time for my parents visit the first week of June).

Yeah, Prudence has started to drink out of the toilet. I kiss that face :Surprise:

Well...the litter kwitter just arrived today. I'm thinking that I should wait until the second kitten is here and have them both train together...I don't know if Gryff would revert if I had to stagger training, lol. So I guess it'll be in storage for another month or so.

What if you just start of Gryff right away on it and keep him on it until the new kitty comes and then begin to train them both.

Our first hurdle....

So, looks like we've finally ran into our first hurdle. Yes I am really disappointed because Lilo has done fabulous with the Kwitter process and ever since we brought her home because she's had zero accidents!

We started the green stage on Sunday and as usual, peeing no problem...but she pooped twice on the floor right next to the toilet. I know she still likes to dig in the litter before going poo but there is still litter in the green ring...and when she poos on the floor there obviously isn't litter to dig in there so I'm having trouble understanding the "cat psychology" I guess.

I read some things on the litter kwitter site about staying with them in the bathroom with the door closed when you know they have to poo and literally keep putting them on the toilet seat and sit there until they go. Also, that when they have accidents give them the cold shoulder and obviously when they do good give them a "treat party" and lots of rubs.

I am not going to regress back to the amber stage...so wondering if anyone that has already been thru Kwitter training/dealt with any of these issues has some input!?

Thanks

I'm so sorry to hear that bean!!

I scoured the LK forums and read just about everyone before I started Frank. Have you tried putting things in her way of where she was going poo on the floor?

I'm thankful that Frank has a pretty strict schedule of toilet business so it's easy for me to keep on the watch with him. If Lilo gives off signs of needing to poo you might think of just hanging out in the bathroom until she goes. Frank did not like when I put him back on the LK a ton of times. I would put him on it, praise him and then let him jump off if he wanted. I would wait a few more minutes, put him on it and praise him again (or give him a treat).

As long as the litter was clean I would sort of touch/scratch the litter to redirect Frank's attention and he would sort of follow suite and scratch at the litter.

I hope all goes well. She'll get it... Frank is 95% done. Next weekend I take away the LK completely and hopefully he wont have issues with the toilet seat.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing with her since Sunday. Lilo doesn't have a strict potty schedule yet but I can tell when she's pacing back and forth to the bathroom and has a certain "mew".

Anyways, I had luck this morning...I knew she had to go so I literally locked us in the bathroom til business was over. I put her up there a couple times and scratched the litter and she finally went all in the hole . I guess I'm just gonna have to be on top of it until she gets the hang of it.

CAUTION...show kitty pooing in action!

Ok, I am excited that Lilo is using the green stage without any problems now. I am excited for the day of no more Kwitter but I'm not rushing it because after all she needs to be comfortable and confident throughout the process.

I'm posting this vid to show any skeptics that toilet training is really possible and as we all know sometimes seeing-is-believing. On that note, it does show "Number 2 in action" so if you think this will upset you don't watch it. Consider yourself warned .

My question..If you have two cats, should you purchase 2 Kwitters? I have three litter boxes right now and Imw orried that if they dont have extra to choose from in case of occupado, they will be upset.. also, has anyone had any issue where one takes to it great but the other refuses? Im so not patient but sweeping.vacuuming up three boxes several times a day and the poo smells that take over the house has put me at a deadend and I need a way out! Petco has it on sale right now for 49.99w free shipping.. so Im thinking its time...

Well I went ahead after posting this and bought one. Found it new on ebay for only 37 with shipping.. so should i invest in the extra rings or another system? We have three bathrooms, but with three kids, we really need at least two open...but if it will make it easier, Ill do it... Especially after just cleaning Fritz's Pooptail again tis morning!:Dizzy:

I have heard of people training right from the get-go and jumping in head first. Cats are smart but also stubborn so the key is to pick your method and stick with it . I had a Litter Robot when my baby came home and she took to that immediately. I then came across toilet training and decided to make the switch after about 3 months of a regular box--she did really good transitioning.

Good luck!

Glad to see you're about to venture into toilet training. Though I cannot speak to multi-cats I have heard people say they use the multi-cat kit (to appeal to all of the cats learning levels) and have great success. Keep us posted on how your babies do!

Oh, and as far as the sweeping/vacuuming be prepared to do plenty of that during Litter Kwitter training...usually they make a mess when scratching around in the litter. It gets better as they progress and eventually the goal of LITTER FREE shall prevail. Just be persistant and very patient. The box says toilet trained in 8 weeks but those results aren't typical so don't beat yourself up--they will figure it out.

This is all very encouraging =) haha I really didn't think things like this worked and am actually feeling a little excited at the thought of having my little girl potty trained  I may try this as well, she is pretty young, but when she has better balance I think it would be great! My roommate is moving out and we will have 2 bathrooms, I guess one may be just for the kitty :Hysterical: haha funny. thanks guys!

I have ordered my Litter Kwitter and am expecting it in the mail anyday. My situation is a bit unique, so I am hoping that someone else has conquered it already. I work in Tallahassee, FL during the week and travel home to Headland, AL every weekend (about 2 hours). My 15 week-old kitty is used to the travel and does very well. I am about to start LK training and will continue the training (with colored disks) when we travel home to Alabama every weekend. So, I have two questions: First, has anyone done the LK training in two locations and Second, will my kitty know to use the toilet in both locations when we have completed the training? He is very smart, so I am hopeful, but I know that the weekend travel, combined with learning in 2 locations, may complicate our training. However, I am a patient person and I have no doubt that we can conquer this challenge as being "litter free" will be wonderful for me and the kitty :)
Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Carrie and Harry Binks (the kitty)

I dont think it will be a problem for your baby to learn in 2 places, I didnt potty train, but I would think that once he gets that the potty is where he needs to go, then the potty is where to go. As long as he knows where it is, just like litter boxes in both places.

I visit family every 6 months to a year apart, and we have not had a problem with our cats finding the litter boxes at her house, even after all that time.
