Do you want me to write this lady for you.
They helped me alot and so far I have received about $400 in donations towards Cocos bill.
I can write her for you?
Could she have asthma.
I was told my Coco had lung cancer when it was severe asthma.
That is why she was on pred.
Then we did the Depo Medrol shots then a inhaler.

Thanks M2M, I don't see any point in further testing. There is a "mass" around her heart, if it is the thymus as they suspect, it is incurable. It's not asthma. It seems to be growing. I am having another vet look at the xrays and see what he thinks also.

I've just now read your story and I am so sorry to hear about Gummi. Gummi was always so spunky and full of personality (which made her one of my favorite cats on Facebook) so to hear about this sudden decline in her health has been shocking, to say to least. Just know that you've done everything you can for her and this is not your fault. I will keep you and Gummi in my prayers tonight.

That is so unfair but I know how it feels.
My sister only had Ty 2 months before she lost him.
He was 8 months old only.
I feel just as bad with Coco and am so afraid she will die when I am here at the show.

I'm so saddened by all of this. Gummi knows that you love her more than anything. I know how hard it is to be in a situation like yours, unfortunately. Every day is a precious gift. My thoughts are with you {hugs}

Keep your head up Bronwyn. We all love you and that Gummi Bare! You just need to do what you do and take amazing care of sick animals. She was put in your life for a reason and I know its hard but you are a miracle to her. Johnny and I are thinking of you and Johnny said he will put his chocolate donut in your face to cheer you up if you need it

aww. I'm so sorry to read this Gadz. Your post has brought tears to my eyes. SoBe sits on my shoulder and licks them off my cheek as they fall. I wish your baby was healthy. We know your doing all you can to keep her happy and comfortable. I hope something comes thru with a solution for Gummi's illness. You, your family and Gummi are in our prayers. xoxoxo

I'm so sorry about Gummi...that just breaks my heart. You have been an awesome mom to her though...and God must have gave her to you because He knew you would take such good care of her while she was here.

I can only imagine how hard this has been on you. My heart weeps with you. There is a great amount of love being sent to you and Gummi mixed with our bittersweet tears. Lean on us.

Thank you all. I have been doing some research online and it all points to what our vets won't officially say ~ mediastinal thymus lymphoma. More common in exotics and usually affecting cats under 2 years old. It can only be officially diagnosed with Ultrasound and fine needle aspiration tests, and that is what the specialists want to do. Either way it's cancer. She is also developing tumors around her nipples. I am pretty sure that I am not going to put her through any more. I love her, I want her to be as happy and loved as long as possible. She is on prednisone. But no more tests for Gummi.

Those may not be tumors around her nipples--you asked about going into heat before--they sometimes get changes in the tissues around their nipples.
I am just sick about all this.....so incredibly sick about it. I am terribly sorry, Hon.

Thanks Susi, they have been there about a week, it's like small lumps under where her nipples are, but not all of them. Does that sound right? Do they go away? And yes she is in heat now. :Dizzy:

Oh dear Gadz, I am so sorry to her about Gummi. You will do the best for her, I am sure. If I only had the magical words to make you and your family feel less pain, but I do not.

I really appreciate your warning to ANP about not breeding Gummi's littermate. Our dear kittens, my Peeve included, could be genetic time-bombs and should not be used for breeding more possible heartaches for other families. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with irresponsible breeders. If you are going to keep intact animals in your household, then there is no excuse for accidently breedings. NO excuse...don't blame the kids, or the spouse or the TV repairman for allowing these intact animals to mate. Breeding should only be done after copious amounts of health research and testing. There are still no guarantees, but whatever can be done to improve the odds of getting healthy animals should be done by responsible breeders. This is our duty if we are going to be creating more life.

Gummi's littermate, Mulberry, is owned by my vet's office manager and was neutered on the same day as my Peeve was. Cena, another one of the Berries was neutered too. Blueberry, the mother of this adorable litter, has also been neutered. The only kitten capable of possibly causing more grief and heartache for other loving families has disappeared from our influence. I only pray she learns from this heartache and chooses to take the more responsible road.

Please give Gummi a kiss from her brother, Peeve. And thank you for doing your very best to make Gummi's life filled with love. Bless you all.

I agree with suzi794, it is very probable its hormone related. As far as her othet issues, get all the info you have together and records from her vet(s) and we'll see what Dr. Johnson has to say. {{{hugs}}}

This just makes me sick. I am heartbroken. When I first read this days ago I just cried. I read both the update son Gums and Bronxe and just broke down. I told Trevor about Gummi last night and he wound up in my bed and cried himself to sleep. It is just not fair for Gummi or Bronxe!!!! They are so loved and it is too soon!

I so want to be able to have some sort of wisdom filled words of support or condolence but I am at a loss It does not seem enough to simply say "I am sorry". Just know we are here to listen. Vent, scream, yell, post as much as you need and we will not tire of listening.

Hugs to you and your family.

Kris

The prednisone does seem to be helping her breathing a bit. She is more playful. It is like living in a horror film, you walk into a dark room and hear this raspy breathing behind you, lol. She is a joy and a gift, and I have decided to enjoy her, appreciate her, and love her for as long as she is here. None of us ever know how long we have do we?

Yes so true. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I think of Gummi often and it is so upsetting and so unfair. Then sometinmes I sit here and wonder how can I get so upset about a kitty I have never met and never will. The people on here become part of your life for good and the bad. Again I am crying about Gummi and giving extra hugs to my babies because you never know how long you have. Everyday is such a gift and we get so busy and tied up in things that we miss that.

I was lucky enough when I went home to meet Kris in person (Dreaming in colour) and it was great. Nice to know that I am not the only one that is obsessed and worried about these guys.

Going now to get off this time sucking machine and play and kiss my babies!!

Give Gummi a big kiss and hug for me.

Hello all, I'm heart sick the hear about our sweet Gummi. I have been thinking of her everyday. Gadzukz I'm so sorry your family is going through this, I cant even imagine how you must be feeling. My heart breaks for you:Cry:.

There will be no more kittens from this whole mess, well I hesitate to say "mess" cuz all these kittens are a loved and cherished part of our families. The kittens and Boo have been fixed. They will be the fat lap cats they were meant to be.

Again I'm sorry Gadzuks I hope that she wakes up in the morning and god has granted you a miracle and she lives to a ripe old age.. Kisses my sweet Gummi:Cry:.

Shannon, it's soooooo sooooooo good to hear from you. It's been too long. I have missed you so very much. I'm wishing for that same miracle for Gummi. I love these kittens--have from the minute they were born. These little miracles weren't the product of a "mess". They captured the hearts and love of people all around the world on this site. They were and still are miracles--beautiful little souls who want only to love and be loved in return ( plus some toys and treats please). If Gummi has cancer or a malfunctioning thymus it isn't necessarily because she was a product of inbreeding. Any kitten can get sick--regardless of it's parentage. I just refuse to look down my nose at these kits. They have brought me many hours of delight. I celebrate their birth and their lives-- for however long God grants us to share our time on this Earth with them. You were a wonderful Mommy to them and no one could've done more or better. I would trust you with any baby I had. I feel so bad for Bronwyn ane her family, but also for you, because I know she was the one you wanted to keep and loved so very much. I am praying for that miracle...I hope we all are.
I love you very much and have missed you like crazy--please be around more again.
Hugs,
Susi and the gang

Jinxlover, we all know how much this news is breaking your heart, just as much as it does Gadz. I have the greatest respect for how JinxL handled this entire situation when she was handed a pregnant kitten by a breeder who walked away and left her stranded. The breeder's only response to JL was....."you can always sell the surviving kittens." This was not a responsibility that JL wanted or was prepared for, but she stepped up and did the right thing for this entire litter. She didn't try to make a fast buck and ensured that these kittens went to good, loving homes. I know how much JL wanted to keep Gummi but knew Gadz would give her a good home. I also realize how troubled and concerned she is over what Gadz and her family are going thru. No one wants them to suffer with a broken heart. Someone once told me......" if you protect your heart from all pain by not loving, then you will die with a pristine but empty heart!" This life is going to hand each of us some more bumps and bruises, but the sheer joy and love we experience along the way will make it all worthwhile. Gadz, enjoy every moment you have with little Gummi.......Please do this for each of us here who do not have the honor of sharing her life in person. May we all find some comfort soon.

It is true - we are family and when a beautiful and sweet Sphynx is ill we all feel the heart ache. It brings back memories of my past sweethearts. Love them as much as you can now.
